I took my girlfriend shooting a little while back and she loved it. It was the first time she ever held a gun. I had to teach her all the safety precautions and safe handling first. For her first time she did really well and now she asks me all the time to take her shooting. Luckily I live on a 35 acre farm so I don't have to go very far to the range set up behind my house. So far she has only shot my ruger 10/22 bullbarrel target rifle but I will later teach her to shoot my ruger mark 2 target pistol. Does anyone else's wife or girlfriend like to shoot?

On a side note, the ruger 10/22 has a stainless bullbarrel and a laminated stock. I bought it brand new for $135.00 It was the first one I ever priced and I thought it sounded like a pretty good deal. Later I found out that it was mispriced and it should have been $335.00 Unfortunatly that was the only great deal I ever got on a gun.

My girlfriend loves to shoot too.  It is really nice to go the range and spend an afternoon.

There are however some potential downsides to a girlfriend that shoots.

1.  If she outshoots you, she WILL rub it in.
2.  Lots of range time is spent keeping her with full clips.
3.  You will end up buying her guns instead of your guns.

Actually, I don't mind any of these problem, I just am lucky to have a gal that loves to spend time with me at the range.  Amazing enough, she even enjoys cleaning them afterwards, well except her AR.

Uh, that's MAGAZINES, unless you only load the stripper clips for her.

Fight4yourrights,

Oops, you caught me.  I knew that.  I will hereby drop and give you 20 as punishment.  Actually, sometimes I do spend time feeding her clips for the ol' Mauser, but she doesn't like shooting that too often.

LOL  Matt.  The last time I was at the range I spent at least an hour loading 30 rounders for the AK. She can empty them much faster than I load them. She almost has the bump down pat. I try to slow her consumption to let the barrel cool down.
She is a pretty good shot with a single action .22 also.
However her outshoot me?  I don't think so I've been shooting far too long for that, maybe if my eyes start to go but hers are worse than mine anyway.

The only problem I got into with teaching my girlfriend about shooting is I can sneak and buy another with out her knowing. She knows exactly what is in my gun safe.

Yeah mine likes to shoot. I think because it keeps me at the loading bench and out of trouble. [:)] Like that could stop me from getting in trouble. [:D]

She likes shootin so much that I let her shoot my Sig 239 one time. Damn was that a mistake. She shot one magazine looked at me and said "I Love my new gun." [:(]

But then she got me a new Sig 228 with Siglites to make up for it. [:D]

Now she pesters me all the time to take her to the range.I love my wife.

Using the Wally World Federal HP 550round bricks, I can put 5 shots in a 1" group at 25 yards.  This is with the stainless heavy target barrel.
