The left absolutely hates the Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights. They want it gone, all of it. It would seem that since that's not going to happen quickly enough for them, they will simply ignore it. It will take years for the litigation to make its way through the legal process. And as soon as the law is struck down, the communists running Oregon will simply pass a new, unconstitutional law that will, again, take decades to make its way through the system. Doing it that way, they will always be able to violate the Constitution without consequence.

I remember when people thought the poll tax was wrong, but I guess here we are.

Dude that is some bullshit.
. Also anything involving a constitutional right should never need a simple majority. I know shall not be infringed But what the fuck |

The magazine ban and assault weapons ban in CA is falling at the 9th Circuit level. That covers Oregon. If the bill passes, it'll shortly be ruled unconstitutional. The permit part will take time. There will definitely be some turbulence.

Quoted: The bill was rushed through the ballot approval process, had questionable verification of signatures that were amassed last minute, then had a title and summary that were written with extreme bias. This was all then sponsored by out of state billionaires with a funding disparity of like 10,000:1. We had zero help from anyone. A completely unorganized grass roots counter attack that amounted to some yard signs and a bumbling "muh rights" rant on TV. Gun shops and ranges posted flyers, as well as places like Sportsman's and Cabelas sending out e-mails, but that's like preaching to the choir. All that and we're 'only' going to lose by like 5-10k votes by the time the week is over. 5-10k votes will effectively kill gun sales in the state of Oregon forever. No gun shops will survive this. While we're stuck in limbo with this BS, they'll force the other half of their plan through our state congress banning "assault" weapons. So no one will be able to panic buy on the leadup to their next ban, which will ban nearly every semi automatic in existence. I'm leaving this shithole the first chance I get. Even if by some miracle this doesn't pass, they'll keep trying. View Quote |

Don’t trust the grandfathering part of this measure. CA grandfathered in mags that were pre year 2000. But later by state proposition and legislation passed, they banned what they said was allowed before. They are all liars and cheats.
Pure democracy by ballot measure is evil and stupid, unless you’re a Marxist wanting to destroy America. |

Are there other rights that are taxed?
Thus sounds like it disproportionately effects minorities. |

I really do mourn the loss of the PNW. I think it is the most beautiful part of the country, but it has taken such a hard turn away from personal freedoms to full lefty ideals over the last couple decades.
The Northwest as a whole has always had a bit of a libertarian vibe compared to conservatives in the Bible Belt, but that is out the window in Oregon and Washington. -Mike |

Idaho is not far away and it’s only the sale of “new mags that is banned.
I fucking hate oregon but I hate Washington more and I can’t really grow fruit trees outside of the west coast states for profit so I’m kinda fucked. We are moving to hood river but if the east half of the state succeeded like they want to to Idaho I will be moving back east. |

Is it even Constitutional to put restrictions to a right up to a vote?
|

Damn. Last night is turning out to be a real downer. I'm hopeful, but not at all confident, this measure fails for you guys in Oregon. It's a pretty big reach, so maybe a court could shoot it down even if it passes (but that is a long, uncertain road).

THIS is why "democracy" is evil, does NOT work, and was NEVRT intended by out Founders, and subsequent state blueprints.
As others have said, certain things should NEVER be allowed on initiatives. I wonder if Thunder Ranch will eventually move if this garbage passes and things progress to worse. |

Wait, so now we can just vote away enshrined rights? Huh? We should establish a Bill of Rights that would prevent such things from happening...

Quoted: This ballot measure demonstrates how evil "democracy" is: around half the people in the state are plotting to egregiously violate the rights of the other half.
