Interesting catch.  Odd.  Very odd.  I'd ask them to knock of $249,500,000 from the price.

If you could afford it , you could afford to helicopter commute, so your feet would never touch the feces covered streets.

This is the way to roll if you have enough bank to kick it in that place.

Think I'd rather have T. Boone's 65k acre ranch in the panhandle for $80M less. But that one is ok too I guess

Id rather buy a $1,000,000 in flyover rural area and put the $249,000,000 in treasuries paying 3%-4% a year

it stops on the first (140th something) floor and the 2nd and 3rd floor are on top of it.

for that price it should have 2 private non stop elevators just for the penthouse.

When the mattress is only on the top bunk,, that makes it 'a loft'.

These building exist to allow foreign money to be placed in NYC real estate.

The best addresses in NYC, 5 ave between 65 and 95 st, are all co-ops.  It does not matter how many billions you have.  The co-op won't let you in if your not going to actually live there and make NYC your residence.

This is the reason the developers started with the "tall skinny" buildings.  Allow the rest of the worlds billionaires a way to get that NYC address, and what better way then to have them compete for the "highest" apartment

HOA is actually called Maintenance.

Just image what a building like this costs to keep up.

Developers build on the cheap, even in building like this.   I renovate apartments in buildings like this for a living and they are the worst construction there is.  The best building in Manhattan are what are known as "pre-wars".  These are built like tanks, just need to buy in a building that upgrades it's infrastructure as people renovate there apartments.  For example, when we.renovate in these buildings they usually require the owners to change all plumbing lines and drain lines , including the risers and waster stacks.

From my recent travels around midtown Manhattan, if it's not the best, it's in the top 5.  (Miami, parts of L.A., Vegas say, "Hi!")

What got me was how thin everyone was.  The non-tourists, anyway.

I love the last line in the photo section.

"Tour it now, before it's gone!!"

It's way out of my league, and as others have said I'd rather buy a large piece of land away from any city. A couple of sections ought to do it.

Fenced.

A lot of these building don't have makeup air and that has to do with not giving up sq footage.

Think about the size of ducts that would be needed to get makeup air into these buildings, imaging the floor space that takes up per floor then how many floors and then think about what these places are going for per sq ft.

Same goes for shutoff valves.  These building usually have no floor valves nevermind individual unit shut off valves.  Again, price to install each set of valves (and that's usually NYC plumbimg union labor) times number.of units times number of floors.
