At one time president Carter had problems with his hemorrhoids. A very painful bout too.
He was about to give a major speech. He walked slowly and painfully up to the microphone. Cleared his throat and began his speech discussing his new proposal Preparation I |

The last roid I had I cured with over the counter roid cream. Gone in a day. I think it was even the cheap Walmart variety. Wouldn't hurt to try if you haven't already.

Quoted: Witch hazel Witch hazel is a wildly popular home treatment for hemorrhoids. It is an astringent, which is one of the main properties that makes it ideal for treating hemorrhoids. Witch hazel’s astringent properties reduce the swelling in hemorrhoid tissue, which causes shrinkage and relief of associated pain and itching. Furthermore, substances called tannins present in witch hazel also have anti-inflammatory properties, which further reduces swelling. It’s okay to use witch hazel directly on hemorrhoids by adding a small amount to a cotton ball and gently wiping the affected area several times a day, especially after a bowel movement. Witch hazel should not be diluted with alcohol, as this can dry out and irritate the hemorrhoid even more. View Quote if its irritated already I don't suggest using it. but up to you. I tried and it lit my asshole on fire. if you wait till its really painful to take the pain pills. break one in half and chew it. if not strong enough eat the other half. breaks the time release. you get more at once, but will wear off faster. be careful with the really strong meds. |

I had the surgery 30 years ago when I was 30.
I had the most possible 3 of the 4 quadrants operated on. They won't do all 4 as too much scar tissue violates your flexibility to pass large turds. I remember it as extremely painful, but looking back it's been successful. I'm glad I made that decision. |
|
It's not the removal that hurts, it's the shitting 2-3 days afterwards, it's like shitting hot razor blades. Good Luck man, and don't be afraid to take the pain pills BEFORE the pain!

Sorry to hear it, Ridge. That makes my hernia surgery last year sound like a walk in the park, and it was very painful. I hope they get you squared away fast.

Quoted: Used to work with a guy. Saw him pull an absessed molar with a pair of pliers, in the shop, because he hated dentists. He had roid surgery. After recovery, he said it was by far the worst pain he ever felt. I'm a little concerned. View Quote All I can say is that not being able to relive the actual pain in your mind is a godsend. ETA: Sounds like you're on the road to surgery. Buckle up. Seriously, though, having gone through it myself, I wish you well. It's no fun, but in the end you'll be glad you suffered through it. I would avoid opioids, and the constipation they can cause. Try 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours. Not great for the liver, but OK for a week. Try not to drink alcohol while taking it. |
|
OP, I'll to try to settle your nerves a bit. It was no picnic, but it was far from the "worst pain I've ever felt" as a lot of posters here claimed to have experienced. Is it fun? No, but not unbearable by any means. Honestly the worst part of the whole ordeal was the local injection on an inflamed roid. I probably could have lessened it substantially if I waited until it wasn't on fire. Maybe soaked it or used whatever remedies have been recommended here by others, before it was cut out.
Recovery is lousy but again, not that horrible as long as you use the pain meds they prescribe. They didn't even give me anything crazy, just tramadal and it worked fine. I would recommend what another poster mentioned, have the prescribed pain meds at the ready. I didn't and would have literally run to the pharmacy after the local wore off, if I didn't have a car to drive there. Another positive note, there's a good chance it won't return after surgery because of the scar tissue, one and done. Mine was over ten years ago and nothing since. As to the severity of mine, it was the size of a large gumball. The prime care physician who looked at it said "I'm taking it out now, or you're going to the ER today to have them do it." I think he was being a bit dramatic. Looking back, I would have soaked it for a few days to get the inflammation down, before getting that local. Bleeding didn't stop for over a week after surgery so don't let that freak you out. |

Sorry OP, I hope the road turns up from here for you.
God has laughed a LOT at my retirement plans in the last two years. My dad used to say, "getting old isn't for the faint of heart". It does give you more of an appreciation for the good patches, though. |

As others have said, take the pain meds on time as directed even if you have to wake up to do it. Dont let the pain get ahead of the meds.
Did he tell you what type of surgery he will be doing? There are several different ways to attack this. Good luck. |

Aw, damn, man, I feel your pain (literally), I just had surgery on mine last week. It's the 2nd worse pain I've ever felt. My kidney stone last year was significantly worse, so I guess that's a positive, LOL.
Look at it this way, OP - it hurts like holy hell right now, correct? It's going to hurt like unholier hell after surgery, but it still won't be as bad as a kidney stone. However, once you heal up from the surgery, your ass (literally) will get a new lease on life, and you might just wind up pain-free (at least as far as your ass goes). As bad as that journey may be, that should be well worth the trip to get to someplace that doesn't suck, I would think. (at least this is the story I'm telling myself as I am recovering from surgery). |

Best of luck Ridge. My ex had to have surgery for hers, she wasn't any fun to be around during recovery. I actually took my handguns out of the house because she was talking crazy suicidal talk while sitting in a sitz bath about every hour. She had a very low pain threshold though, I bet you can deal with it just fine.

I recently had a small blueberry sized one that grew to the size of a grape. It hurt to walk for a few weeks. Initially tried to use OTC stuff with no relief as it got worse.
Scheduled an exam (2 week wait) and it had already shrunk by the time I went to see the doc. He mentioned some stuff about anal tearing because of constipation and I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy next month. So far I've been prescribed nitroglycerin and told to eat prebiotics and fiber. I've been trying to eat a little healthier, but hard to diet properly. |

Home from surgery. Went well, doc said.
I guess we'll see how big of a wimp I am. |

I had minor hemorrhoids right after COVID started from all the sitting during WFH. Doc got me right with two rounds of injections.
That sucked pretty bad. I can't imagine what a thrombosed one would be like. |
