If Google can't answer, I always go to the real world knowledge base: GD!
My wife is out of town, sent me a text this morning: "Hi! I'm up!" There's a number on the To: list neither of us have ever seen before. I googled it and got a ton of conflicting answers. Some said it was an old Verizon number about getting a multimedia message. I'm afraid my wife answered some message she did not know who sent it to her phone. She's not too up on high tech stuff, very trusting also, maybe she got us hacked??? Has anyone ever seen this highlighted number before? Here is txt: From: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, August 16, 2022 7:44 AM To: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: Hi! Im up! |

How about, it is wrong number and do not reply. Sometimes it is a phishing expo to mine active numbers.
I got on yesterday that said just, "Hey!" |

Hacked, or she copy/ pasted into the to: line by mistake when looking at multiple messages.

It's just a phishing attempt. Ignore it.
I get those once in a while. They usually come from my "dad" with a subject line of "I forgot to share this pictures with you". No body text but a link. My dad is/was a cyber security consultant. He doesn't do crap like that. |

It appears she may have sent a photo in that text. We’ll need said photo to proceed with investigation.

A phishing attempt that is listed as an additional party to a message originating from his wife and didn’t originate with the third party?

Happened to me about a year ago, thinking it was a customer. I responded and ever since have been bombarded with spam . I should have known better |

You're assuming the text actually came from your wife...from what I can tell, spoofing numbers is easy.
I was sitting in a hotel room with my wife when her cell rings. She looks at it. "Why are you calling me?" I pointed to my cell phone sitting on the end table next to me and shrugged. Hers stops ringing. Then my cell rings, and it's her number calling me. I guess it could have been a glitch in the matrix. |

Quoted: Did she use the hotel wifi? View Quote No, she's at our daughter's house, using her own phone. I'm going to check her phone out when she gets home, she's got numbers on there from 1995 when we first got our phones. Like I said, she's not real tech savvy, and way too trusting. She could have easily hit a "copy to" and it went to an old number no longer in use by anyone we know. I appreciate all the help guys!!! |

Everyone but me had company phones. One by one, they all received a call from the same number. That was rather odd too... |

I usually respond something about go fuck your mother...then I block the number and delete the text.

It's either Jarod Frank in Whitestone NY, or Melissa Graceo Reilly in Bayside NY.
That, or a phishing attempt. |
|
Side note, I need more spam calls. Any idea how to get them to call more?

My cousin got a phone call on his cell while sitting home watching TV. The calling number was HIS OWN HOUSE PHONE which was sitting on the desk right across the room from him. How is this possible? All these robot calls!!! |

Phishing attempts. Wife & I get them pretty regular. Just delete, do not respond. Or you can add the sender to your block list. Someone in your contacts list was compromised so everyone in their contacts list gets spammed.

View Quote When I was a kid (80s) we had a weird night where some glitch would make calls between our house and our relatives who were local. Our phone would ring and it would be an uncle who would swear that WE called HIM. Then it would be a cousin. Then a grandparent. Everybody swearing the other person was playing a prank. Went on for about a half hour and nobody could explain it. Everyone did try to blame our poor cousin (probably 13-14 at the time) who was into computers but his parents alibi'd him. |

Vzwpix.com is an email address verizon uses when you send a text to an email address.
Im trying to determine why that is there instead of a simple phone number if you are texting. |

View Quote I think you may have hit upon this! I'll bet she's got someone's email address on her phone (from work or something) and she pushed that by mistake or something. Can't wait to get my hands on her phone, she's got numbers going back years, even dead people's numbers too . . . She uses that Forward, Reply All, Multiple people, CC, BCC all the time. I bet you are right. I think you got the correct answer there! |

Almost all the phone scams will come through an area code where I have no interests and I can block them all. Best spam filter available. |

There are places on the net where you enter in 2 numbers and then it dials one as the other, then the 2nd as the first. If neither party are aware, it is just confusing enough to both parties that one thinks the other butt dialed or something similar (ie. "glitch in the matrix"). I have a cousin who likes to play practical jokes who uses said sites often. |

When I have enough recorded I might start a YouTube channel. All I say is (matter of factly) "I have a huge cock". Nothing else. Never get emotional. Vary tones enough they know it's a human. Some talk back and it's funny. But I get like two spam calls a month now. |
