Sorry op, and while i dont have excess savings built up, my opinion is mixed. By alot of stuff your know your going to use. Its only going up for now for awhile. Money value is going down, and i suspect it's intentional in order to bring about a crisis in order to go to digital currency. Probably a hack on banking system as a criss which leaves people in panic cause not able to but things. Every day were are being robbed by inflation, while price controls are masking it some as well.

My wife and I have paid for and gotten airline tickets for a trip to Alaska. This was a long time in the making. I'm beginning to wish we could cash out cheap and easy. I don't see the next 3 months going well for America. Actually, I don't see the next 2 years going well for America. It is all because of the stolen election and the illegitimate FJB administration. I certainly hope the next election is honest and we get a conservative back in the Whitehouse along with a conservative House and Senate. I am not a republican, I am a conservative.

The Tahoe isn't going to be worth more than i paid for it.i bought it straight cash and put 4k into repairs. I could probably get a bit out of it more than i paid. If it comes down to it I'll sell it and get a real cheap beater. I don't want the company and owners getting flak. They're good people and have treated me well over the years. Quoted: Sorry to hear op. In all sincerity and this may not sound nice…you worked the front desk at a hotel for 5 years? Did you ever get promoted or look for something else? I’m only asking because I’m wondering if you could do better if you tried or made some changes? That is not meant to be a jab at you. View Quote I was damn good at my job doing front desk though near the end i became pessimistic about working there. I was also the night auditor who had to run the systems to balance taxes and accounts receivable. I tried getting into the sales department as well as the front desk manager position, but even though i was tied with having the best end of year reviews i got passed over for promotions. I suspect it was because they had extreme turn over for night auditor positions before i took over the position and they didn't want to lose me. Even though they ended up losing me anyways. |

I got laid off back in late December. Doing construction. Various stone and concrete work in NYC. They said we'd be starting back up in January. At first I figured OK, Christmas and New Year. Not much gets done over that holiday week anyway.
Then the trucker protests got going in Canada. Most of the stone we work with comes from Canada so I figured that was screwing with deliveries. Now end of May and still nothing. I'm told there's a bunch of work just waiting to get started. Allegedly in June it's a go again. Guess we'll see. Had to take another job in the meantime to keep the bills paid. |

Yep. My cousin owns a dress shop. Business has been around almost thirty years and about to close. Weddings, quinceañeras and prom are now luxuries.
An uncle was terminated from a large factory construction management position for refusing the shot last year and still hasn’t found anything close to his old job. I work for a shipping company and it’s telling what and how much people order. There is a huge shift to basic items, precious metals and some of the most prolific farmers in the area are buying survival food in bulk. Volume is down despite people ordering so much more stuff. It’s past the time to start gardening. |

Quoted: sounds like you got fired and you're not telling the whole story View Quote I'm quite inclided to take OP at face value. Just sat through some meetings with business strategy leaders for a basic industry I won't go into (and not relevant) for 10 different countries. Every single one of them is planning for a major recession they are expecting to hit in each of their countries in the next few months. I was floored, as I hadn't been paying attention, but apparently everyone who is paid to pay attention, is past looking out for it; they are outright expecting it and planning for it. At the same time, all of them are expecting to see a continued increase in sustainability demands and legislation ("sustainability" is the new word for "green" btw, in case you missed that change) It was eye opening as shit, I'll say that. We're about to go from labor shortage and all the smug posts about how valuable labor is and holds all the cards, to a lot of lay-offs coming. My advise, be very careful "sticking to your guns" and start to focus on "that dude is damned valuable, easy to work with, and cost effective". This afternoon, I walked out of an Eastern European gun store, and asked them: "how many guns a day are you selling right now", oh, it's calmed down, only maybe 5 a day now, it was busier a few months ago? How about ammo sales? That's fine, we have ammo - it was short for a little time a few months ago, but now, no problem. |

I'm sorry to say that I think there is a lot more of this ahead unfortunately. A downswing has been held back by artificial means for so long that there is most likely a heavy correction coming.
I would encourage everyone to prepare - knowing a useful skill in the job market should always be a huge asset. There are so many ways to learn new things now a days - wise use of time to learn things from online classes, youtube, etc can be very helpful. There is so much that you can learn solely from youtube. There is a crazy amount of information out there to be had for free basically. I encourage folks to take advantage. Maybe a new job won't keep folks at the same lifestyle level, but will provide for necessities. I'm thinking that a lot of folks are going to have to take a serious look at what are necessities vs wants. On the flip side, in my area, the economy seems super strong, lots of jobs, lots of business being transacted. I haven't seen the downshift yet. different parts of the country will experience this differently though. |

I think "smart guys" running businesses are falling into a group think about the horizon of the US consumer market and they are creating a self fulfilling prophecy.
A guy I know says the business he works at is going ham and slashing 30% to 50% of the manufacturing work force in ANTICIPATION of lower sales coming soon even though they can't keep up with current demand. Everyone knows inflation, Biden, Putin, Xi, mother nature, aliens and the illuminati are all out to get us so bad things are coming, but I argue that it's been that way forever. Confidence is low in aggregate so things are going to trend toward shit until something comes and changes confidence to the future has to be better than this mode. |

View Quote I think YTs "The Money Guys" is a better fit for GD. Ramsey has you throwing away your employer match and building even a small wave of retirement. He also overestimated earning and withdrawals compared to every other person. One other thing that bothers me about almost all financial help groups is the expectation of working until you are 65-70. DR does this a lot with his estimations. "You start saving at 40 and by 70 you have X." Most jobs I know of will not be something someone hitting 70 will be readily able to perform outside of just cubicle or C-suite work. |

Get yourself some education/training in a field where you can set yourself apart from the pack.
From a reputable school that has a good job placement record. Do a lot of research. Find something interesting that is recession proof and immigrant proof. Talk to a lot of people. Talk to a lot of schools. Stay away from the trades. The trades will break down your body and keep your wages under the rate of inflation. You eventually will be replaced by an immigrant anyway. Many, many years ago, I was disgusted with my trade (drywall). I looked into going back to school at DeVry Institute of Technology. They were mostly into electrical engineering and that sort of thing, but they also had an accounting program. That's what interested me. The cost was $27,000. I was told there was grant money available to help adults that were returning to school for a career change. It still seemed outrageous to me, so I didn't do it. 35 years later, I regret my decision. |

Quoted: While I'm not going to name the company i worked for i will say we manufactured high end hunting packs for ourselves and another company that has a more well known brand. That is to say everything we made would be considered luxury items. Since the beginning of the year sales of our own branded stuff slumped quite a bit but that didn't hurt us too much. The packs we manufactured for the other company and other clients was still selling well. Unfortunately our biggest client just put a stop to all orders for the foreseeable future and a few of our other clients have recently drastically cut down on orders. In conclusion in my mind consumer discretionary spending is tanking hard. As for me i don't really know what I'm going to do myself.
