I'm dating myself with one of my toolboxes

H-O was probably the biggest Pontiac Speed outfit in the '60's and '70's

Anyone familiar with Nunzi's?

Rear fender of early '50's Pontiac

Nice emblems from the mid '60's cars

The fact that they are basically upside down from how you would normally put stickers on a lid since they are put against a wall shows that he did it knowing it would be against a window that was in view of a customer area.  Poor taste for a business unless its a Harley shop and a tattoo parlor is the waiting area.

When the customers who brought their large family's 12 vehicles in on a regular basis and gave a blank check "do not call me to authorize, just do whatever it needs" told me it was because of the clean crew and shop, I listened.

Perception might not matter to ol' boy with his work truck, but to Susie Soccer Mom and Dr. Softhands it is extremely important. We made a lot of money off of "you are the only guys in town that look like you know what you're doing." Your mileage and flag hours may differ. And that's okay

About the OP, I wouldn't hire someone that has a big "I don't work for you" sticker on their box at my shop. Everything about this screams bad attitude, will break things and tell no one.

I just spent a couple of hours REMOVING stickers and goo from an old (1978) SnapOn top box. At least the sort-of matching (1967) lower box that I got from a different owner did not have any stickers on it.

As to the OP: that's not a high-end box anyways so no worries.

Many years ago, the plumbers that I worked with would put Chiquita banana stickers on their lunchboxes. Last summer I was next to a guy on the freeway that had a row of the stickers on the door of his truck. Had to be a plumber!

I really could care less.

Can the guy fix my car?

Or is he just going to make shotgun type guesses as to what's wrong, replace a bunch of stuff that's not broken, break something else in the process and leave bolts and covers off when he tries to tell me he fixed the vehicle (and it's still broken)?

I took my wife's jeep to get the oil changed on Dec 31 (I had a dr appointment in town - that's how I remember). I decided to be the good husband and get this done for her.

Yesterday, I decided to change the oil at home and popped the hood. The little plastic cowling that you have to remove to change the oil? Yeah, it's gone.

$120 to change the oil and they didn't even put the cover back in the vehicle. Yeah! Go team! I bet he has great stickers on his tool box.

Reading stuff like this makes me believe my wife a little more when she says I'm not exactly "normal."

The only shops I've trusted to be repeat customers have been small operations, and certainly not super clean and tidy.  But those places and people work for me.

Yeah I can picture that guy, probably not going to let him work on my stuff for all the reasons stated here. Basis: 10 years working as an aircraft mechanic, and having to work with guys like that.

Then there's the Snap-On douche with all the "don't ask to borrow" "I invest in precious metals" stickers... but at least he usually won't cross thread things, and leave off parts when he's done. He can work on my stuff.

Also Little Pony can work on my stuff.

That’s not the theory of management for the the last 10-15 years at any high volume dealer.

They believe a shop should look like a surgical floor and be spotless and prestige at all times.  They want a customer to be able to walk in and feel like they are not paying enough for the privilege of having their car in our shop.

It’s stupid. 10 years ago the dealer lawyer went around and made everyone  take down the snap on and Matco pinup calendars we get from the tool trucks. These aren’t any where near revealing.

This is why there is a big push for dealers to have built in tool boxes supplied by the dealer. Do everything matches and it looks perfect. Then they turn around and try and sell it as a benefit to the techs because they don’t need a tools box. The dumb ones sell their tool box making it harder to leave when that shop has a pos manager who wants to bash on techs.

I am not s fan of stickers on boxes at all just a personal preference.  But it’s my box and my choice. I can tell you that that box wouldn’t be visible from an customer area like that in my shop. At least throw a fender cover over it being against the window. Luckily all the windows to the shop from customer areas were removed years ago.

"I don't like stickers! mumble mumble"  Okay then, don't use them.
"I don't like tattoos!"   Then don't fucking get any
"I don't like anything unless I am the one doing it"   Just stay inside and turn up matlock

This place wants to advertise freedom as this all encompassing blanket of awesome. In reality, it's just out to try and dictate how and what people do according their own intolerant views.  Stop trying to control people, you grumpy fuck
