OP, are you doing an impression of someone who's entitled to whatever the fuck they want, whenever they want it at the snap of a finger? You're doing a great job.

But somehow I bet you think that kind of work, people and wages are beneath you. View Quote You obviously don't read though. If the place was packed, I would have completely understood. But it wasn't. And there were employees standing around fucking off on their phones. But yeah, how terrible of me walking into a restaurant expecting to get a meal, right? |

Fuck no and it definitely doesn't matter that I've got a million other thi gs to do I'll cut those 2 inch thick ribeyes you wanted but do realize I scheduled 5 people to come in and could have scheduled 3 more if i had the manpower, and 30% called out so yeah fuck you douche I'm short staffed. Tried to eat at local El Pollo Loco today and dining room is closed due to short staffing. My guess is people didn't show up for work. Getting more and more common.

so vote with your wallet, like you did. seems like it all worked out.
the reality of the situation is either A) the restaurant can tell OP up front what the deal is so he can leave and bitch like a karen online about it or B) they can let him in and then he can bitch like a karen because "omg i had to wait in like with 8 people ahead of me each of which took 3-4 minutes to cook their food because they only had 2 chefs working! if they'd have told me like decent people i'd have left!" i'd have been glad they told me so i could eat elsewhere. GD sure hates free market capitalism when it isn't convenient for them personally. |

Quoted: Wife and I stopped at HuHot for lunch. The restaurant was less that 25% full, 2 people at the grill. We went to the hostess desk and tried to get a table. She snapped back in a real bitchy tone that it would be a 35 minute wait because they were 'short staffed'. How the fuck is it a 35 minute wait at a place where you make your own plate and they just throw it on a grill? Especially when the place is at less than 25% capacity? Those fuckers aren't short-staffed, they're just short of any type of work ethic. We left and went to a Chinese buffet. View Quote This all started with the millennial generation who overall are lazy and have no work ethic. They can crap on boomers all they want but at least we worked for what we had. |

View Quote I like to think I'm a reasonable person . To me anyways the issues I saw with the last time we went out were prioritizing the time they did have, which is training related. You can't put anyone as a server with zero training and expect them to do well. That more an issue of management too. |

Quoted: The Chicoms were very hospitable and food was good. Seated immediately, quick with drinks and clearing plates. There's a reason why manufacturing went over there....Americans don't want to work. View Quote that's not why we lost our manufacturing base. corporations found they could use third world/child labor to make the things they manufacture, for pennies on the previous dollars, they were spending. you can get 30 third world bodies to man your factory for what a single american guy would cost, with bennies. |

Back in the 80's I worked in a restaurant while in school in New Orleans and the owner would throw people out all the time. They were mostly tourists who thought we were a fast food place. We would have a line out the door for lunch and dinner and during Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest we were always throwing people out who went full Karen and couldn't wait for their food to be cooked to order. Nothing was precooked or microwaved and nothing touched the fryer until it was ordered. The locals would often warn them and even yell at them to get out because they understood the assignment. I would laugh out loud when they would say " I want to speak to the owner" and he would yell back "I OWN THE PLACE, NOW GET OUT!"
The entire restaurant industry is short handed Bigtime and those who are trying to work are working overtime and stressed to the max. If you want to be a Karen you can take your ass home and throw a frozen hot dog in a pan. |

So you went to a shitty restaurant and went to a shittier restaurant?

|
Quoted: Vote with your wallet, which you did. But I don't get the surprise at the realization many restaurants have turned to shit and the customer is not the #1 focus. It's been going on for 2 years. It's a problem and businesses need to figure out a way to improve it. View Quote I am a pretty patient person unlike 87% of Arfcom (not a dig at the op) and realize that its tough getting good help currently so I will give restaurants some leeway. It will be interesting how long it takes restaurants to improve on service if ever. I think people will get tired of paying more and more for food and still get crappy service and either eat out at different restaurants or even eat out less. |

We eat at home 99.9% of the time. Wife and I can both cook...especially her...lol. We eat better, healthier, the food is always made how we like it, it's cheaper, and we don't have to deal with other people as much.

Well, some places were short staffed.
A place in Burbank was closing early on Sunday; they didn't have enough staff to stay open later. |
