I didn’t know that the mind behind Ferrari current power unit , 066/7 super fast is a certain Wolf Zimmerman, German engineer that made the Mercedes’ PU that won 7 titles since 2014.

Very few rules though like everything else they were added to continually as innovations came. We have a Lola CanAm car that ran in 78, and previously as a F5000 car from 74-77. They basically just slapped some aluminum side pods on it, extended the bodywork over the wheels and called it a day. It is an absolute brute of a car but it's a great one. Pic below is old, probably from 2004 VIR but you can see the aluminum sidepods that were riveted to the tub of the F5000 car
