That was my first car - 45 years ago. I bought it used off my Mom & Dad for $500. Eight months later I flipped it upside down in a ditch. When it landed on it's top it literally came apart at the seams. We hauled it away from the roadside in three pick-up loads...

It looks like a decent vehicle. The one thing I was disappointed about was that there's no under-bed storage like you see in the Ridgeline.

I had faded brown one in the late 70's. It had a ahooga horn.

I was actually hoping it was the old style car. I wanted to know how you were planning to resto-mod it. And resto-modding may be the most metro thing you can do to a classic car. This, however, is less manly than even that.

Quoted: There was just a thread here yesterday waxing poetic about the Subaru BRAT (and I was one of the admirers). It would seem strangely contradictory to love the BRAT but hate the new Maverick. ¯\_(?)_/¯ View Quote The brat had a single cab with rear facing seats in the bed. The maverick has none of this |

The maverick will be my next truck. I don’t need a full size and I have an atv for real off roading.

How does it compare to the Mercury Comet?
My daughter had one back in 2013 and really liked it. She is twenty-six now. |

All have been awesome rides. Nice, I like the little falcon cars. I had a 61 wagon I stuffed a built small block into. I had planned too do the same with the ranchero but the little 200 i6 that was in it refused to die and it already had traction problems. Never owned a maverick but remember plenty of them with big motors wedged in and the classic 80's mullet mobile rake with air shocks and fat rear tires. |

Will it meet your needs?
What sort of tires are on it? Like it or not folks unibody trucks are enough truck for most people. Add in modern computer controlled AWD and the minor off roading that most people do becomes more comfortable too. I think they’ll regret not using the Courier name, like VW and the Golf/Rabbit. They should have at least resurrected the Ranchero name if they were aiming for retro warm fuzzies. Full disclosure long term Gen1 Ridgeline owner here. |

I like the small size, as it’s the only small almost truck available these days new (the new Ranger is not a small truck by any stretch). I just wish it wasn’t a car with a bed.

It makes a lot more sense that full size pickups for the average suburban guy. |

Quoted: Had a ‘71 with a 302 in it. Fast, fun, that being said, the new Maverick shoulda been named the Courier. View Quote I had a 79 Courier with 2.3 four banger. It was a real truck. Tiny but real and I even towed a 3500lb boat with it a few times. A bit interesting but it did it lol. This Maveric is nearly 3 times the size of a Courier. I think Ford did a great job style wise and will sell a boat load if they can make them. |

Hopefully it holds up well.

The msrp on those is like 22,000? Is that what you paid for it?

Actually looking to upgrade from my 04 Acura hatch to something more comfortable, with more utility, and better gas mileage.
Figured one of these would fit the bill And not too fancy for my taste. How's it drive? |

The Badlands Bronco Sport is ~$38k, so almost twice as much as the Base Maverick. But yeah they should have made the 2L 4cyl standard. Mine has the 1.5L 3 cylinder, and I have to say, put it in Sport Mode and it's pretty quick for a small CUV |
