So I went to the shop Friday and got my Lincoln ranger 8 welder. It’s been sitting in the shop for over 3 years, nobody has used it. I put a battery, fuel filter, cleaned the carb and checked the oil…g2g. Ran it on and off for 3 hrs on Saturday working in a project. Ran perfect. Went to start it Sunday and it immediately sounded like it didn’t have any compression. Pulled the valve cover to find 2 stuck intake valves.
Pulled the heads, removed valves. Nothing wrong other than the old gas had gummed up on the valve stems, causing them to stick. These valves get lubricated by the gas in the chamber, not by oil. So now, 2 head gaskets, 2 pushrods, and a dash of marvels mystery oil in the gas tank, we’ll be running tomorrow.  Attached File |
