Rule #1 Get out of the kill zone
Rule #2 Return fire Rule #3 If you aren't shooting then be moving Rule #4 If you aren't moving then be shooting Ruke #5 Overwhelm with firepower or disengage. That's how it used to be anyway. So my answer is yes. if not there's always another open place in Valhalla. |

Too many variables to remotely guess so I would survive up until I didn't and they killed me til I died from it

Hilarious Thread, OP!
If I understand the scenario... I (and a couple hundred other mostly old folks) are defending our mountain community that has only one (very steep, and heavily wooded) road in. I'm pretty sure we will do very well unless future Gov Stacey Abrams sends the Ga Woke Guard up here to wipe us out. It would be a bit like the Revolutionary War except the Red Coats would be wearing rainbow clothes with inflatable unicorns. YAY!! |
Longer than most, cause I actually shoot my guns, train in my gear, and weigh less than 300 lbs
Well I fought fires, and came out on top.
And I wasn't a firefighter - I was a paramedic - and still managed to survive. I will say this, my first time in a confined room in a fire training house with a five pallet, two bales fire was incredible. |

Nobody knows that. You can be the most "high speed, highly trained operator" on the planet and a lucky armature can whack you by surprise.

I take a whole tube of Ivermectin every morning. They better watch the fuck out.

With another non-running, non training, slightly out of shape, myopic, 75+yr. old….?
Ok |

If we’re talking about with the police I would do better against California than I would against Alaskan.
Alaskan police are hard core, I watched them practice, even made a thread about them awhile ago. I’m guessing if I did a stand off in Alaska I would be facing a hail storm of bullets in no time. In California I might get a negotiator. |

This is arfcom. We're all top tier operators... so unless it's against arfcom members it's indefinitely.
If it's against arfcom members, then also indefinitely because we would be too busy mocking each other's builds, and bickering over whether or not a non-staked castle nut will get you killed |
If I see them before they see me, maybe five seconds. Other way around, not nearly that long.

Quoted: It isn't up to any of you how long you will survive. View Quote Who else would it be up to? Survival depends on a lot of things, but mostly the will to survive. Of course, lots of friends with guns and ammo increases your chances. To the OP's question: Until I do something stupid like run outta ammo or choose concealment instead of cover. |

From my armchair, and the countless shooting videos from police, to warfare, to thugs, it seems like the potential to be killed at the drop of a hat is pretty high. One minute you've got a plan, then boom, you've been hit by some shmuck you didn't see coming.
Makes me think of that video recently when that guy murdered those two cops, then runs out with his gear ready for a big fight, but instantly takes a hit from the officer he didn't see. Bang. Just like that, over. I'd say odds of survival would probably very much depend on whether you are going on the attack or on defense, and which side has the numbers. One guy against multiple attackers who are more skilled than the average gang banger, odds of it lasting more than 10 seconds is probably not good. In a home defense situation I expect myself to do fine. In the apocalypse, could be seconds. |
No specific situation is mentioned here, so its hard to say. That being said, engaging from an advantage is advisable. The basics are important in all situations. Find cover, try to get fire superiority, and attempt some type of flanking action if possible. Bug out if you're in a disadvantage. Ambushes are very effective if you can pull them off.
As far as survival, you'll probably be ok if you only engage from an advantage and know some infantryman tactics. If you get ambushed or surprised, its probably not going to be good. |

By myself?
Am I with a team? How good and well equipped is the team? Is contact with dirt farmers or another mil unit? If the latter what country of origin? Lots to consider. If Im by myself Im gonna stay in the shadows and avoid contact but if it happens Im gonna shoot and scoot the fuck out of their AO |
Not long, Im sure. Only expect to get in one to save my or my families life or killing commies so if it happens I will assume death is inevitable and just do what I gotta do and pray I end them first or we at least die at the same time.
Im not worried I keep a good variety of patches from different ideologies with my plate carrier so I can always join the side that has the advantage
Much longer if I initiate and have great cover for my break contact route.

Quoted: Depends, where is the fight taking place? Woods, downtown Or a neighborhood? And am I familiar with area and what Do I have on me? Too many variables. View Quote This. I'm no trained expert, nor am I former military, but I do know my AO, and I would like to think that if I can sneak up on an elk from 80 yards, to within 15 yards, I can be stealth enough to survive at least day one. But if you're talking about being a precision shooter taking out other precision shooters, I am at a disadvantage. |

I would die. Or wouldn’t have the nuts to expose myself to shoot back
Anywhere from 2 seconds to the rest of my long life.
That's the bitch about combat. |
Yes, no problem
I’m the only one with guns for miles so I’ll be doing the firefighting they’ll be doing the zig zagging |
Played a ton of halo 2 so a while.
Especially if I can camp the spawn points. |

Until I close with and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver.

Some men have the "aura". They can take a leisurely walk through a battlefield with nary a scratch.
Others step one foot outside the wire and eat shit. Unfortunately if you're the latter you find out too late. |
