I'm staying away from news and other outlets for a while.
I am disgusted that our government has turned into a bunch of squabbling quislings ! |
|
I've removed myself from the "outrage of the day" cycle that is fed by the internet and cable news. It's incredibly unhealthy. It's also completely unhelpful in the real world. It's just a way for people to make money off of your emotions.

Quoted: Pretty much did the same starting around 2 years ago. Almost nothing ever comes of “the latest bombshell” so why waste my precious time and energy on something that does not matter at all? View Quote Same here. I was never on the Book of Faces or similar media. I'll catch a few headlines. Like the Lynyrd Skynyrd song, "I know a little, baby I can guess the rest." |

Obsession with politics is the sign of an unhealthy mind.....that said, you can’t completely ignore politics because politics never ignores you.
The best thing you can do is stop watching cable news (and TV in general) and check out people like Scott Adams on YouTube or ARFCOM for a decent filter. |

I can't
Their bullshit affects my work, finances and retirement It would be irresponsible to not be involved |
|
We're living thru the decline and fall of an empire; plan accordingly. In so far as politics, I largely walked away from them long ago; there's nothing to be gained from listening from a pack of liars.

I don't think they will give you that option. We are in the inquisition phase of a Marxist takeover of the USA. People are being purged and silenced and with no push back things will only get worse. The left has framed the narrative so the right always looks bad and submissive. Any republican appearing on msm is set up ,ambushed and made to look like a fool. This gives the left confidence in their endeavors. It emboldens them to keep pushing.
|
|
Its a lot more than politics buddy, the left is out to take away my freedom, to insult my morals and values. Politics are things like higher taxes, not open boarders, white privilege's stuffed in our faces, suppression of freedom of speech and weapons bans,,, it goes a lot deeper than politics
|

Not me. I'm not a die hard political at all, I just want to know our current state of affairs and stay updated on anything new happening in our country. It's good to stay updated.

Quoted: I tried but couldn't get politics to leave me alone, so here I am. I'm more engaged than ever. View Quote This, you can't just sit this one out. The enemy continues to fight and if you think things can't get worse... Go Ahead and give up. For the rest of us: GET OUT GET ORGANIZED GET READY And in addition there are a million things you can be doing to positively impact the direction of the country. Youth outreach, get involved in one of the BSA replacements or local schools in friendly districts. Volunteer as an election worker or poll watcher. Mainly, just stop being a pussy. |

I have been a political animal for over a decade and I'm done. My vote doesn't really count and I don't have enough money to matter.
All of my letter writing, emailing, phone calls, tweeting, going to rallies / protests, donations, and voting have not made the slightest bit of difference. I have as much influence on state and federal politics as I do the weather. I just don't give a fuck anymore. |

I kept Fakebook because the family posts pics and stuff, but I stopped with political posts about six months ago. I changed my focus to ensuring my firearms training is up-to-date, started getting back into shape, and spending more time with the family. |

Sorry, but you cannot remove politics from your life.
Cannot. "Politics" literally refers to control of your life and how you fit into society (your part in "the city," in ancient Greece). You might choose to ignore it--to bury your head in the sand--but control of your life goes on. You still play your part in society. You have no choice but to have politics "in your life." Your only option is whether you want to play a role in it, or sit back and trust others to do it for you. |

I shut it all off and became an adherent of the "Front Porch Party". When they show up on my front porch then we'll have a party. And depending on what kind of mood I'm in at the moment will determine how it goes. I'm almost 70 - what are they going to do? Cut short my long and promising life?

I try all the time...a dozen times since the election and I just cant look away ...like an out of control fuel truck with no brakes, crashing through the gate of the oil refinery , I've just got to watch this wreck unfold .
I know it's not doing my BP any favors and some days I feel like Im gonna stroke out, but...oh well , time to scan the headlines. |

Yep. I’ll pop up in two years and maybe vote.
I went through ALL of Klinton and Barry’s time in office and never heard more than a sentence out of either. The media is entertainment for the sheep. |

No. I need to understand what's going on to care for and protect my family.

Quoted: After the last 4 years of bullshit I have decided to stop following politics altogether. The left wants to make this country burn to the ground, have at it. I will just wait until the fighting starts. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy my life without the stress of national politics bogging me down. Closed FB Account, Removed all political stuff on IG, stopped watching news/clips and on here I just try to ignore anything in General that would lead me back down that rabbit hole. I'm not a head in the sand kind of guy, I will continue to prepare my family for whatever may come but the stress is not worth it at this point. View Quote I cut both TV and politics out of my life many years ago, and have been happier ever since. I do vote, however. Most of us just want to be left the fuck alone. |

I’ll get involved sometime again in the future. Maybe. Day to day right now. No way.
Right now I’ve got other priorities. |

I quit politics during Obamalamadingdong's term. I still don't care.
There's too much political discussion on this site. But I'm not team so I don't count. |

Quoted: I'm 62 and I was talking with a friend this morning who's older than I. I kind of think it's over for the US. But, it won't be fast. The demographics are eventually going to third world us. It will still be somewhat livable the rest of my life, most likely. If I was thirty or even forty, I might decide that I really needed to do something. But, I'm going to leave that fight to the people who will have to live through the hell that's coming. If they don't care enough to fight it, I sure don't care. Because, you want to know what the one thing that would be worse than Trump losing this election through voter fraud, by a factor of one hundred? The fact that he didn't lose it, and a majority of voters really want to tear this country down and replace it with some sort of socialist welfare utopia. If that is true, no amount of anger or dedication to the Constitution can fix that. View Quote Well said! 100% agree. |

Yea, just watching from the sidelines....waiting for the inevitable.

I think the best way is to update once a week or so on what is going on by hitting a bunch of different sites with different biases. Skip the opinion pieces and talking heads. I'm not into political entertainment or becoming emotionally invested in parties and politicians so I try to focus on state/fed legislation, regulations, eo's domestically and of course any international happenings, which is nice to get from sources outside the US.
keep a tab on things, stay vigilant with your elected officials voting records and vote on job performance when it's election time. Too easy. |

I'll show up to vote, but I see no reason to follow and get worked up over crap right now. I'm burned out and need a break.

Quoted: Quitters never win. View Quote They do when realizing juice isn't worth the squeeze. That energy and worry goes into something else instead of beating head on wall. I've tried to educate, remind people, that no civilization or economy has ever lasted but this time its either different or they can drink and behappy and worry about it tomorrow. Its been said on this forum that Americans don't network or support each other. Had it too good for too long to pay attention. Mexicans and Indians will own whats left in this country shortly. Its inevitable. I can either be angry and waste energy and the remainder of time left to yell at the sky. I've done my duty, accept that I'm screwed and its a reality I can't change. 20 years ago I would have considered any with this view point to be a sloth, lazy, perhaps even immoral, guess I've grown up. |

Politics, media, etc. as much as humanly possible without not talking or interacting with others.
It’s psychological warfare. |

I'm on vacation following investment threads and I saw this. I'm almost there, but obviously not 100%.
I've mostly tuned out and been amping up my prepping while trying to figure out how to make my dollars worth more. I guess you could say I'm just preparing for the inevitable while giving up on stressing out day to day. |
