I hope Trump realizes that because he failed to stand up for his backers on the 6th (never even ordered the name of Ashli's murderer released), he damn sure isn't gonna get a crowd of admirers to stick their necks out for him again when this kangaroo court sends him to prison.
The Democrats realize it. |

I'm surprised they didn't appoint Soros at this point. When will I know we've move up to banana republic status?

The smart GOP move would be to draw out the trial for months. But they aren't that smart....

if hes said anti trump statements in the past, then that alone is proof its he cant / wont be impartial and thus should be excluded as the defendent wont get a fair trial. thats how shit used to work in this country.

Quoted: IIRC Romney said he's voting yes. I think there'll be several republicans who will end up getting enough votes to convict. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I wonder how many Republicans will join the Dems to convict, not realizing it will enrage the R base? i hope they spend every second of their time on this for the next 4 years, and accomplish nothing else.

So lemme get this straight and sum it up if I may...
Leahy as juror and judge. Schumer says the trial 'will be fair.' Mittens says he's already made up his mind to convict, even before the trial has started. And these are the people we trust to "impartially" and fairly run our gov. is right. Well, at least the madness is all out there on display now. |

Even single senator that supports this unconstitutional farce should be removed from office for dereliction of duty and corruption.

You mean like this?: WATCH: Sen. Leahy’s full statement on Trump's impeachment trial | Trump's first impeachment trial Statement Of Senator Patrick Leahy "The Masks Are Off" or this on his own website: ( left cold ) https://www.leahy.senate.gov/ Today’s decisive and bipartisan vote in the House of Representatives to impeach President Trump was nothing less than a vote to preserve our democracy. President Trump has not simply failed to uphold his oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution, which itself would be sufficient to warrant his impeachment and removal. He has emerged as the greatest threat to the Constitution and to American democracy in a generation. so impartial. if this happens, this country is nothing short of a joke. |

This is great.
On a normal day, GD decries anyone who violates their oath. Today we're saying oaths don't even matter in the first place. Lol. |

If I were Trump I wouldn’t legitimize their efforts.
And I’d start financing an army. |

"The president of the United States was effectively identified by his longtime lawyer and confidant as an unindicted co-conspirator in their efforts to commit criminal campaign finance violations." Judge Jury AND Executioner. Each senator has sworn an oath to defend the Constitution. And on Thursday we took yet another oath to do “impartial justice according to the Constitution.” Will the Senate now defend the Constitution’s carefully balanced separation of powers? How we answer this and other critical questions in the coming weeks will define America’s democracy for generations to come. Apparently not... |

Swear.
Like when they swear to defend and uphold the US Constitution and then attempt to pass laws that circumvent it? |

View Quote it's the hilarity of the situation that the Dems felt they had to have Leahy swear a new pledge for impartiality to be the ruling authority of the impeachment. Given that it is he who will be both judge and juror for a president who's term expired. And its never been done before (president pro tempe judging over the president). Let alone Pelosi's indictment itself said 'to remove him from office'. This whole thing is just an outrageous farce, And yet here we are. We are saying oaths don't matter anymore (simply because this is ignoring the process spelled out in the consitution for impeachment) and this is a spectacle of one-offs for the rules, being special because of the we-hate-trumph Dems being in control and bending shit to their whim. |

"I consider holding the office of the president pro tempore and the responsibilities that come with it to be one of the highest honors and most serious responsibilities of my career. When I preside over the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, I will not waver from my constitutional and sworn obligations to administer the trial with fairness, in accordance with the Constitution and the laws.
