As a fairly small company they are partnering with other companies on different development projects (GM with electric and Toyota with power plant and platforms).

They are moving upmarket (better margins) with a new family of Skyactiv engines (straight 6 and a 4 cylinder) and platforms that will also be used in future Lexus products.

Lol!  Their sales have been sucking/declining for quite a long time now. They may as well be Mitsubishi.

A 20% increase of 10 units is still just 2 units.

I'm not knock knocking them, their sedans drive great. But nobody wants sedans.

You need to go back and look at last year's numbers. Only Mazda, Volvo, and Alfa Romeo had positive sales compared to 19. Everyone else was down 15%-30%

Go take a look at the top rated SUVs...the CX5 will be on the top 3. Mazda also beat Toyota and Lexus in reliability last year

I guess this is just a rendering, but that's a handsome car

There's even a chance that Mazda will mimic Lexus and put the inline-six into both four- and two-door bodies. Rewind two years prior to the Vision Coupe and you get the RX-Vision, a Mazda sports-car concept with a hood way longer than necessary for the Wankel rotary the company was imagining at the time. Few things cement an upmarket image better than a rear-drive sports coupe.

oh shit!

Been driving a 2011 Mazda 6. Very reliable with good gas mileage. Great daily driver. Does not have all the electronics that new cars have. Reluctant to part with it

Best new car I ever owned was a 2003 Mazda 6, Mazda speed racing package automatic an manual shift. That car hugged the road, hauled ass an got decent mpg. The Bose stereo system was amazing.

Wife has had 3 different ones that last 12 years. Mazda 3 and 2 CX5s.

Only had to have 1 warranty repair. The leather cover on the 15 cx5 started peeling within a year. Dealer replaced.

Markets are driven by infantile retards mostly. Just look at the “lifestyle advertising” car commercials.

My wife’s Mazdas have all had fewer recalls than my Toyotas and are a lot more fun to drive.

No. No they are not. Look at Units sold. Compare to Nissan.

Some quick googling shows freaking BMW has 3 times their volume. Mazda is a dying brand.

Mazda barely sold more than Mitsubishi.

Mazda doesn't want to be one of the high volume commodity brands like Toyota, Honda, Nissan. Their goal is 1-2% growth per year, while maintaining their quality

Shame really. As 10-15 years ago Nissan and Mazda has great performance oriented vehicles.

But the market has changed. Folks don’t want performance. They want the SUV and the biggest movie watching display possible.

I’ve seen it with honda/Acura. I loved my 2004 Acura TL. 6 speed manual, great motor, gave me 500k trouble free miles. Quality and performance for a great price. I bought a 2015 Acura TLX because I needed a car. The quality and performance are nowhere what they used to be.

The market for a performance sedan is very very slim. You can get it, but you’re going to pay.  And that’s where Nissan and Mazda shined back then.

Mazda is and has always been niche in North America, but if it works for them...

Pickups?  Last one was 2011, the mini-sized B. Never made a mid or full size
Performance/sport?  "Arguably" the RX-8, to 2012
Minivans?  MPV ended in 2006, mini-mini Mazda 5 until 2015
Full size sedan?  929, last seen in 1999
Performance mid- or full-size cars?  Nope
Luxury small-, mid- or full-size cars?  Nope
V-8?  Nope, never
Mazdaspeed versions? Last one was 2013

At one point Ford owned 90% of Mazda.
View Quote

Kimiko Mazda was Henry Ford's 15-year-old Japanese cleaning lady at the mansion out in Dearborn.  Henry was a racist bastard but he caught the yellow fever and knocked her up in 1931.  The little bastard was named Jujiro Mazda and he went home to the rubble of freshly nuked Japan in 1946 with a bag of Henry's money and started up Mazda.

They kept the Ford ownership as secret as possible so Emperor Tojo and Field Marshal MacArthur wouldn't raise a fuss.

Most people don't know this.  Hidden history.

i think they will survive.

but.

i think Toyota is going to buy them.

they already have been sharing factories and even platforms for over 8 years or so now.

it might just end up being Toyota, Mazda, Lexus. the same way it is Chevy, Buick, Cadillac.

Tons of Mazda's here. I see them everywhere.

If anything I would say Honda/Acura have fallen out of favor and at risk of dying. In the 90's and 00's you would see honda's everywhere, and acura's starting to be common in the 00's.

I hardly see Civic's anymore.
