Quoted: get it checked out by a vet asap. ideally you should not let it around your other dogs. My GF is a vet and see stuff like this all the time where the "stray" is carrying all kinds of diseases in fungal stuff in their lungs and spreads it to your other pets. so what you feel like doing is a good thing it may cost you high vet bills or losing one of your other pets taking one in off the street without stopping at the vet's office first View Quote This. Had a boxer pit-ish looking mix show up at my house while I was out deer hunting. My wife put it in the outdoor kennel. Same look as yours, emaciated and just happy to get some food. Kept it in a crate in our attached garage after I felt he was not mean. Such a sweetheart of a dog that I would've kept if we didn't already have to elderly dogs and a puppy. Felt terrible keeping him away from our other dogs but knew it was for the best. Ended up being a good call. The new owners took him to the vet and found he was full of worms of all sorts. He's probably dead by now but I hope he enjoyed the rest of his life. Take both of your dogs to the vet for testing. Also, easy on the people food. By the looks of him he won't be able to handle it. Boiled chicken and rice in small amounts. I hate pits, but enjoy your new pal!!! @Rodent |

Awesome looking dog you have. Take good care of it and you’ll have a lifelong pal.

It's your dog now!
Looks like a pit mix. Looks like once it gets healthy it will be a fine looking dog. Just so you know, dogs you actually rescue yourself - there's something they seem to know about the relationship that makes it different than most others and very special. I don't know if you can really keep the dog, because not everyone is set up for two, but keep that in mind. |

It’s a pit. Raising it correctly from a puppy you should be fine. I won’t own one, but I won’t bash those that will.

Quoted: That's the hungry kind. Eta: Op - don't give him the whole damn fridge on day 1. Ease him back. View Quote But yes, ease him back in. Two bowls of dogfood plus some bonus raw meat/eggs/ is good. I'd recommend some organ meat if you have it. Another great option is to buy YOU some bacon, and snip off the fatty bits give them to your dogs. Don't forget to show the old boy a little bit of extra love too. |

Pretty little bully breed mutt. Get her to a vet to treat any potential parasites she might be carrying and to check for a microchip. Contact the local animal control to see if anyone reported her as lost.
If no one is looking for her, either keep her or find a good home for her. I know bully breeds get a bad rap, but the vast majority of them make sweet pets. Do some good foundation socialization and training, and expect some dog aggression particularly with dogs she doesn’t know and other females. Give her plenty of exercise, and she will be a happy camper. They’re usually pretty versatile, so you can train them to do a lot of things. Training is easiest if you make it a game and avoid a lot of repetition. With her being a blue, she may have sensitive skin, so keep an eye on that. |

I'd say 3 - 4 months old.
Is your Old English Sheepdog goofy? A friend had one growing up. Not the smartest dog but always fun. |

Pit/staffordshire/bully
Call it whatever cutesy name makes you feel good, that's a pit bull. |

^ First off, the link in the post above is total BS. It's a site run by a Karen on a crusade because she got bit by a dog while she was jogging once. Her statistics are made-up.
Second, a DNA test is the only way to tell what breeds your dog is. "Pit" is like "assault weapon". It means whatever someone says it means. Pretty much any randomly-bred mutt gets stuck with the label. While there is an actual pitbull breed, it's unlikely that most of the people posting in this thread have ever actually seen one. I never have, not even at dog shows. Whatever she is, I hope she turns out to be as good as the one that followed me home a couple years ago. |

Congratulations...Looks to be pit bull/mut . Feed him/her and it will be loyal to you. Wish I had girl friends like that, in my younger days. !
|

Take to get and get documentation on the poor condition of the dog ask about surrender laws. If the owner comes wanting him back you might be able to get the threat of animal cruelty charges to make them fuck off.
|
|
Cool looking dag. You did a good thing for him. Don't overfeed him as he will gorge himself.
|
|
Might want to take a current photo of your face......you know.....for reasons......

I just can't believe how irresponsible people are with animals. Glad this dog found you op. My wife rescued a pit mix. Certainly not my favorite breed but she is affectionate and hasn't eaten anyone yet.
|
|
Good on you OP! Rescue dogs are the most loyal dogs.
ditto previous poster about cooked chicken - definitely don't do that. raw is ok. |
|
Well looks like you are a sucker and have a new dog!!!
Would have been better if it were a kitteh, but a furry life saved is what really matters! |

View Quote You sound terrified Terrified of a puppy. I can’t imagine how that would feel. That’s a mighty fine puppy. |

Sad.
Once he regains his strength he will eat you though. So that sucks. |
|
It's a pit mix, but for purposes of home insurance it is 1/2 boxer 1/4 blue heeler and 1/4 english pointer
|
|
The kind of dog that gets your neighbors rich when they sue your ass for getting mauled by your new dog
|
|
Where would they be getting mailed two?
Ohh come on, don't change it! |
|

you have been chosen.
GD will tell you it's more dangerous than a wild hyena though |

If the coloring of those two dogs together isn’t a sign I don’t know what is.

Quoted: This. Either you'll have the bestost buddy of your life or you'll be its chew toy. Hopefully it's the former. View Quote Or as I often feel, I have a bestest buddy for her life that frequently uses me as her chew toy A little over a year ago, we took in what is almost certainly a "Pittador" - half-lab, half-pit. So, the best way to describe her personality is the energy level and affection of a lab mixed with a tenacity of pit-bull. While she has taken with everyone in our family, she LOVES me so much so that my wife refers to the dog as my girlfriend. And, despite her weighing in at around 60-lbs., she frequently tries to be a lap dog for me. The other part of the story is that we end up playing pretty physical almost every night so much so that my wife wondered from time to time if the dog was attacking me. And at times, she is only content when she has one of my hands in her mouth as she gently chews on it. So far, I haven't lost any fingers, LOL. And as much as I previously have stated that there would be no way in hell that I would own any dog with pit in it, she has burrowed into my heart so much so that last Saturday night I slept on the sofa so that she could sleep on the loveseat (she is normally crated at nights) because I could tell that she felt bad. We have our daily walks around the subdivision and because of the exercise with her, I'm healthier now than in probably 20 years. I already know that it's going be a rough day for me in twelve or so years when she goes over the Rainbow Bridge. |

Pitbull puppy!
I got mine at 3 months old. Raised with other dogs. Small and big. With kids and special needs kid. One of the best dog I’ve ever had. 10 years old now and amazing family dog. Just proper training socializing. It’ll be like any other dog. Keep her. Love the colors. Beautiful dog |

Quoted: Speaking of Pits, my one time room mate brought one home. It was the most loving puppy and the only dog I've ever seen a dog actually bury a bone. I ended up giving him away to a friend a few years later and the fucker killed his goat and most of his chickens. that's a cute pitbull. feed him and you will have the most loyal buddy ever.

Quoted: It is an immensely grateful dog...that is what kind it is. It looks like a pit bull/staffordshire terrier mix. If you are wise enough to keep it, you will have one of the most loyal dogs on this planet. Dogs never forget who saved their life. I would name it "Delta" after a very famous dog. I'll look up the story, and come back and edit this post to add the story of Delta to it. Here is the story of Delta: In the year 79 A.D. there was a cataclysmic volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius near the ancient city of Pompeii. Pompeii was a large trading port and home to many thousands of people. Everyone in and near the city of Pompeii at the time of the volcanic eruption perished on that fateful day so many centuries ago. The city was discovered under many feet of earth and volcanic ash. What was eerily unique to this discovery was that the bodies of all the victims decomposed in the packed sediment which left a hollow cavity freezing in time the moment of there deaths, in a sort of 3 dimensional negative image. When another hollow cavity was discovered a cast was made by filling the void with plaster, creating an impression of the last moments of life for another soul. While archaeologists were making plaster casts of these cavities Delta was discovered. The cast of Delta’s body was found lying over the body of a young child. Also found in the bottom of this hollow cavity was a silver engraved collar with the dogs name “Delta” the collar also said that the dogs owner was named Severinus and that Delta had saved his life on three separate occasions The first time Delta had pulled him out of the sea and saved him from drowning. The second time Delta had defended Severinus when she fought off 4 attackers who had tried to rob him. Third she had defended him from a wolf that tried to attack him somewhere near the city of Herculaneum. Delta the hero dog tried once more (in vain) to save the life of a child, in all likely-hood the child Delta sacrificed her life trying to protect was the sibling of her owner Severinus. Delta may have been unable to save the life of that child but she gave her life trying and even with her dying breath Delta never once thought of herself. You are very fortunate to have been chosen by this dog. I accepted a dog that chose me once, and it was indeed a terrific decision. I was looking at some registered border collie pups in a whelping pen when one of the dogs from a previous litter came up beside me, looked at me, gave me a sniff, and leaned against my leg. I moved, and the dog moved and again leaned against my leg. The next time I moved, the dog did the same thing and the breeder said "It looks like you have been chosen by a dog, rather than you doing the choosing". So I accepted the suggestion and he turned out to be an absolutely wonderful dog for the next 14.5 years until he went to the rainbow bridge. I still miss him. I sure hope you take the hint that the universe has given you. View Quote How was all of this info written on a collar? |
