Probably doesn't know the difference between a swashplate and a tailwheel lock pin. We should have him go get some peanut butter or elephant snot.

After being attached to an aviation unit for a while I’m surprised it’s not more common. At least in the army they were maintained about as well as the run of the mill wheeled vehicle which wasn’t great.

National Guard Aviation is head and shoulders above active component aviation units in  everything from maintenance to flying proficiency.  PT scores might be lower but that is not guaranteed.

There are a couple units there, the aviation unit and an MP company at least.

Flying club for senior pilots.  I wouldn't ever doubt ANG flying crew or maintainers.

Wanna know what the torque is on a main rotor shaft nut on a UH60 is? Hand tight.

Now the retaining ring and all the associated hardware with it is actually torqued down to a specific number.

They crashed in a vacant field.  I wonder if they stretched a little too far to get to the field away from people.  Heroes with big balls.

I lived in the area for years. There are lots of fields around the mendon ponds Park/Bloomfield area.  Thats pretty much all there is really.  Tons of farms and open spaces.

Whatever happened was sudden.

I live near a major west coast military base.
Sadly, crashes are an all too common occurrence.

RIP to those lost.
