So I'm looking for a new grip. The problem is I want something with a slightly larger swell. When shooting AR pattern rifles, the trigger has always been deep, at the second knuckle of my trigger finger (counting from the tip). I would like it to be less deep and closer to the tip for slightly more controlled trigger manipulation. So that would imply a slightly larger grip swell, I would imagine. I would also prefer FDE. My rifle is all black, and I initially wanted to do black receiver with FDE furniture. But times being what they are, my only option for the rail was black. I can still go for a FDE grip and stock I guess, hoping that won't look too weird. Honestly, I kinda wanted to go for a unique scheme, and FDE is getting kinda common, lol. Willing to change that up. Has its pros and cons. |

LBX sling and grovtec qd swivels if you want to save a little over the BFG and Vtac stuff.

Quoted: lol, that Magpul stock can't even hold a spare emergency mag. no thanks View Quote Yeah, I used to have an A2 fixed stock on my "AR pattern rifle" in my past life. Some of us kept a spare magazine pouch on the right side of the stock. Don't think that's possible with M4 style stocks. |

Quoted: I don't think so. IIRC, the CTR stock can be retro'd with a QD socket. For the MOE stocks you'll need something like this: https://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/qd-rotation-limited-buttstock-sling-mount-n-slot/ Works with any stock with a sling webbing slot. View Quote You are correct, I got confused with the old ACS stock for a minute there. |

I really like Viking VTAC slings. They have padded and lightweight options.

Grip and fit is so critical to good shooting. I would never consider it to be inconsequential at all. Just want something that works well for me and my longer fingers. |

Okay, checked out a few youtube reviews. BCM grip looks solid. Just ordered it. Can't wait for it to arrive!
Now on to spare parts questions! So I am on a buying binge, and want to add spare parts to my inventory. This week I ordered a spare: BCM midlength gas tube and roll pin 2 sets BCM gas rings 1 BCM complete bolt 1 BCM firing pin 1 LBE unlimited firing pin (feeling suspect about this unheard-of-to-me brand) 1 BCM cam pin 3 BCM firing pin retaining pins What else should I get? Edit: Also want to order a headspace gauge. |

Quoted: Okay, idk why it didn't work the first time round. Just ordered it with the QD swivel loop. How tricky can I expect this sling to be set up? Still gonna order a Blue Force Vickers sling so I can compare. View Quote Its not at all, Lefty here, just had to undo straps, flip it around and put it back together. Once you have it in your hands and see how simple it is you’ll see. Make sure to pick up both of the attatchment hardwares. @Skyler2000 Did you make sure to get one of these too? Attached File I use a Mash hook with a KAC ball lock eyelet / Magpul MAG5431 QDM and the Magpul MAG337 sling attachment mount. ETA I did see though that you mentioned the “qd swivel loop”, just making sure |

Yo guys, so what do you think about my spare parts acquisition?
|
|

I personally have enough spare lower parts for 2 of each part at least. Likewise with BCG components. Mainly so I don't have to wait for replacement parts if something should break, also if I accidentally start a new build I'm not a slave to the current market (see my ammo comment from before). Also buy mags. They are considered by many as a consumable as well. How many mags? Same answer as the answer to how much ammo. |

Buy a membership for your rifle and actually do something useful.

@Skyler2000
Re your question from pg1 on a light - look into Streamlight ProTac (my personal favorite, also Inforce WML is a decent second choice for a bit different form factor). Great light at a nicer pricepoint than a Surefire Scout |

If your objective is SHTF replacement parts, then just order a handful of complete LPK's (that means it includes grip and FCG) for the same price. Thinking about purchasing the Magpul CTR stock in FDE (I ordered my BCM Mod 3 grip in FDE).
Does this stock have any noticeable difference in feel from the standard MOE stock? Different feel in the shoulder, cheek weld? |

Now for the rest of my gear. I don't have a flak and plates and all that. Once I have enough money, I "might" get one. I'm familiar enough with them. My money will go to a pair of ANPVS 14s and PEQ 15 before it does to a flak. IMO, night vision is your next more important thing after your weapon, mags and ammo is sorted out.
But until I do, I just need basic deuce gear, or an LBV. I know chest rigs are popular among some. I'm sure there are a million types of LBVs out there. I like the traditional Alice LBV because it keeps your mags on your hips instead of your chest. Just swap out the mag pouches with modern ones and add a drop pouch to the left side. Is that ridiculous or silly? Honestly think it works even today. Since your mags are on your waist rather than your chest, you have better access while prone and they're not digging into your torso when doing so. You can still keep miscellaneous items, but you just have to organize it differently. You can still keep a butt pouch and camelbak. Find a place to store an IFAK and knife, and you're good to go. That's my ideal setup, but I'm sure there are better setups for those who know about all the different models and brands. I'm all ears. |
