To those saying that it's fairly normal for SS to effectively disarm everyone around POTUS, sure. THAT part is normal.
What isn't normal is politically vetting the troops and purging them of those who voted the wrong way. THAT is not normal. Also, either there's real fear of some sort of attack from Trumpists, or there isn't. Either the NG are there to actually protect the inauguration, or they aren't. Either they need live ammo to do that, or they don't. And if they don't, then what is their purpose in being there? None of this is normal. NONE OF IT. |

The Secret Service is basically paid to assume everyone is a threat. So any plan to disarm the military during the inauguration isn't anything new or exclusive to Biden. President Reagan came to Bragg around '81 or '82. We were cleaning weapons when he showed up. There were 2 SS agents ahead of him and 4 with him when he was walking through our company area. Super friendly. Asked what state you were from, then had a story about visiting your state. Mostly humorous stories. Hell of a nice guy. |
