Depends on how you define overpriced.

I have 9 Wilson Combat pistols.

Glock fanbois and I would disagree...
View Quote

I guess I say overpriced comparing it to what it really is.

I paid 180.00 for the receiver which is the cost of a ruger 10/22
The chassis is 400 and the trigger group was 300.
The bolt was 99.00, the scope was 400 without the rings

I am sure I could have bought other components that were just as good but I wanted mainly KIDD for some stupid reason.

I couldnt just go with a scope for a .22. I had to step it up. I was going to get a thermal but I would have never used it for what it could do.

Just a stupid buy from someone that was bored and wanted to go all in, damn the price.

Nah, that's only $200. The third hole having existed before the deadline is the expensive part.

ETA-I'd estimate I have close to $1200 in my Marlin '97. Inherited the action from my grandpa. He said he thought maybe it had once been his dad's gun. Bunch of money spent on ebay and with Wisners and I had the parts. $200 more for a bluing job. Might be worth $400-$500 as a parts build but it's not for sale and Grandpa's gun works again.

McMillan Tac308.

It's a great rifle, and I'd buy in again, but today I could get comparable results for much less money.

I’d say my kidd. The 1300 for rifle,500 optic, . For a SUPER. Fancy one hole at 50 yard 10-22. Lol. I can give it and ammo to 190 Appleseed shooters and they jump up to 210+ every time. Gun makes shooting well easy,

In today's market it has to be my PSL.
Of course I scooped mine up when they were still sub $600.

But way to much money in it has to be RRA ar15.
$5000 later and I like how it is set up now.
Of course it also did the gremlin on me when I got it wet.

I guess it comes down to what you think is "over priced." I don't consider $1200-after '86-too expensive.

I have an M1a National Match rifle that hasn't seen the light of day since 2006 or so. It was almost 3000 dollars back when I bought it.

Outdated and obsolete when it was released, it is pointlessly overengineered/built gun.  It's basically an overpriced curiosity.

Definitely my mod1. Awesome rifle that I’ve shot all the way out to 1k with, but I have no delusions I couldn’t have built an as good or better rifle for much less than I have in it now.

I guess my semi-auto Madsen might be considered overpriced.

I paid around $3000 for it (maybe $3200? - can't remember), and although I obviously think it's really cool, it is essentially just a really big and heavy semi-auto rifle, that is hopelessly obsolete.

Once you add the tripod, gunner's kit, tools, etc. and the spare quick-change barrel/breech - I am over $4K into this thing.

I guess my very clean, 3-digit AR15. I love having it for the historical value, and of course, the 3rd hole adds a lot of artificial value, but from a practical perspective, I could get a modern AR with all the design upgrades of the past 70 years and have a superior firearm for a fraction of the cost--even if it did mean giving up the fun switch.

One of my ARs is just under 5k.

But that's because of the accessories including a dbal/suppressor/aimpoint/taps/griffin irons/stamps/surefire etc

The base rifle without everything is probably only $1500.

I bought a Glock in 2019.  I must have been out of my mind.

Same with all of the USP pistols. Well-made and very reliable. But dayuum, they are stupid expensive.

Definitely my precision 20" AR I built. I actually just added it all up last night.
lower$50 Larue Barrel 16" Stealth m4 feed ramps$245
Geisselle MK13 15" rail$300
VLTOR MUR Upper$200
Sig Whiskey3 3-9x50 scope$300
SLR Adjustable Gas block$125
Harris bipod and larue mount$220
Larue LT104 scope mount$160
Magpul ACS + Buttpad$90

JP LMOS w/EB$353

My Ruger American 308 16" barrel in a magpul chassis with magpul bipod and a no-name 3-9x scope I got at the gunstore used for $300 outshoots it.

I saw a NIB 1894CSBL go on GB for $3300. Just a little higher than current average.
If someone is paying that, I could understand the logic. Fit and finish can be an issue on some.

If he shared his cost it might make sense.  I paid $750 for my 'JM' 1895 SBL a few years ago, and it's worth it.
It's one gun I won't ever sell.  Not because some idiot might pay $3K for it, but because it's a great gun.  Unless he paid >$1200 for his, it's hard to claim he 'overpaid.'

The current price likely reflects that they are out of production for now, until when and if Ruger decides to tool up and run them.
I was uber lucky to find the 1894csbl in November for MSRP.
And I agree, not a gun I want to part with regardless of resale value. Well, to a point but I have no idea what that point is.
