OP is not completely wrong.
9mm out of an AR platform is more about saving money on ammo, and/or being able to find ammo, for a short barreled AR, over getting the best ballistics/performance out of an AR. 10mm or .300blk are >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 9mm out of an AR platform with a short barrel. If you want to shoot for cheap .22LR >>>>> 9mm out of a short barrel. But if you want something with a really short barrel that you can somewhat afford to practice with, 9mm isn't a horrible choice if using 124gr HST (+p) or 147gr HST for SD. Still....the "ballistics" are the same out if the same rounds are fired out of a handgun with a similar barrel length. |

Shoot what you like. Why bash fellow gun enthusiast just because like something different then you.

going shooting is awesome
a 9mm AR can help you go shooting 9mm ARs are awesome QED |

As an owner of both.
9mm AR runs circles around MP5, fucks its bitch, shits all in its bed, raids the fridge and drinks its beer. AR; $400 vs $1800 and up AR; $12 magazines vs $60 AR; Feed ramp and less picky about projectile shape AR; Last round bolt hold open AR; Controls are reachable and not designed around mutant hands AR: Easily swap bbl lengths AR; Far easier to accessorize AR; No retarded mount needed for optics AR; lower can host other calibers (mine has Colt style mag blocks) MP5: Much smoother shooting MP5; looks cool |
|
I tend to agree. I finally broke down and built a 300 BO... more for fun than anything. No plans for 9mm in anything but a handgun.

I regret building mine tbh. I could have bought a GHM9 instead.

Totally agree.
I tried the whole ar9 thing. Fucking hated it. I didn’t see the point of a carbine that had more felt recoil than my 5.56 guns. ***** that does not mean it’s bad recoil. That means from shot to shot, I am quicker to get my reticle back on target with a 5.56***** Went the hk route and it’s been a ton of fun. Probably the most fun I have had with a gun in a while. It accomplishes what I actually wanted from a 9mm setup. Super light recoil, very fast follow up, super easy to maneuver. Only think that really sucks is the trigger, but even with the not good trigger I’m MUCH faster making hits on target. To a lesser degree the manual of arms. |

Fantasizing about a sweaty locker room tryst with your muscled bros after a basketball game is gay. Guns aren't gay.
|
|
MP5 bros are adorable,
Pay more money for less performance because smoooooooov. |
|
I like the CMMGs but they're not worth the cost for me.
I would like to see more magazine in the grip guns. |
|
|
Not if it has delayed blow back.
Also screw your snob stupid crap, not everyone has 3k for a niche weapon that's largely outdated and not that relevant with specific configurations of AR's in more powerful calibers the same size. Now stop being a faggot gloating to like minded firearm enthusiasts and Americans. |

One time when I was taking a leak at Outback, there was a 9mm AR tapping its toe, deliberately
Left in a kia Always thought the whole situation was weird, now it makes sense |

Why would I spend a shitload of money on a toy when I can have a lot of fun with a cheap AR that uses a pile of mags I already own?
|
|
I already had a ton of Glock mags and got a PSA PCC for a steal.
It isn't as slick as my brother's HK SP5K semi-auto, but it is just as accurate, ...and I had spent about 2000 less than he did. |
|
Had one because I thought I would schlep it to the pistol range with me when I went. I ended up doing that exactly once and got rid of it years ago.
Kinda wish I had it back now. The “carbine” concept (a pistol and a “rifle” in the same caliber) is appealing. |

Back before Scorpions, Striborgs, AK5s, etc, it was either $2500 HK94, $1300 shitty roll of the dice clone, a $600 Uzi, or $800 AR9.
Kharn |
|
The DOE clone I shot in full auto was more fun than I thought it would be...and a whole lot easier to shoot well than a full auto Glock.
Sure there are better choices for a lot of jobs, but 30 rounds of 9 will kill a lot of shit. |
|
It's for training with AR controls places you can't shoot an AR and the ammo was half the price.
|
|
I got em all, so there is that. 556, 6.5 10mm 9mm...for that matter 22LR

View Quote Go stand down range and talk that shit Seriously though I really like both my 9mm AR and my 45acp AR. Both are very reliable and very quiet suppressed. And I do have more than one AR in 223/5.56 |

I want one that takes Scorpion mags and uses CMMG's radial delay system. I don't think the RDB can be shoehorned into an AR-V without significant modification though.
Until then, I'm much happier with my Evo. |

I remember back in the day when people just liked shooting guns for fun and didn't estimate the size of their cohort's dingus by the caliber he was shooting.

Gotta agree. At one point I had a PSA upper on a standard AR lower with endo mags and also a FM pistol. The PSA honestly felt better, and ran better. Right out of the box the FM I had to tinker with, and the last round bolt hold open never worked. Ended up getting rid of both of em.
Only way Id get another is if I ran across a factory Colt at a really good price. And only out of nostalgia. |
