Always liked the DAO compact guns, but hated the magazine disconnect.

Quoted: Quoted: Great thread idea. Here is a first day contribution. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/312/Colt-AR-15-Rifle-Advertisement-Law-Enfor-1765642.JPG That was a form of firing the M16 taught by the USAF in the early 1980s. The M16 was advertised to us as a weapon that could be fired from the shoulder or the hip. I am more concerned about the cross draw situation on his belt. I am a big fella and I would have a difficult time accessing that revolver with my right hand if I had to reach too far from the center line. |

Amazing how many of the “wonder pistols” in these ads are just historical footnotes now. Because apparently the Steyr GB should’ve been the only pistol we all ever needed.

I certainly understand inflation, but looking at the other weapons he bought around that time for more than $200.00 I'd say he could of invested it better! I'm the one that never bought several cheap weapons when I worked at a LGS...makes me sad. But back on topic, this is one of my favorite threads going! Not near as depressing as others and I have already enjoyed it thoroughly! |

My dad was (is) an avid shooter and as far as I know, he never even considered getting any FA stuff. |

I use to send away for the HK catalogs as a kid(1978 was the 1st year for me)....I am pretty sure I have collected the whole 1982 catalog.... and probably a few other years. In true form(for me)...I also latter collected the catalogs themselfs
our house inside and out(including our cars) is a living museum to all the things(besides Farrah Fawcett and Erin Gray) I thought were cool as a kid....thankfully I had good taste as a kid and also took the old saying to heart " if you find something you like buy two, because they will surely stop making it" Quoted: Those old HK ads are a LOT of the reason I got into guns. I recently found a bunch of original American Rifleman magazines (NRA obviously) from the early 1930s. Some of the articles discuss new firearms legislation in the works.
Man if I could only go back in time and write some letters to the editor. They're pretty interesting though. They have some of the self defense stories they still have today. Just a little more Wild West. The ads and classifieds in the back are pretty interesting as well. |

One of the biggest was you gave up your 4A rights and LE could drop in at any time and do a spot check to make sure everything was stored correctly. You also had CLEO approval issues. |
