Watched this afternoon but just getting time to read all the posts and catch up. I think y'all covered most of my thoughts.

First, a maiden F1 win for a driver is awesome to watch and always adds to the excitement of the season. It's not "jeez not this guy again" when the guy has never won. So big congratulations to Ocon and Alpine on their maiden victories.

Sticking with Alpine, I was so excited to see Alonso win driver of the day. The way he was able to make his car as wide as the track without a penalty or even a warning was awesome to watch. I hope this week we get to see Hamilton's onboard for those laps because they were something to behold. Real veteran skill there he showed. Driver of the day was well earned.

McLaren, man it sucked to see Norris get wrecked. And for Ricciardo, I really think this isn't his car. I hope he'll have some involvement with the 2022 car so he gets one to suit him. I reall think some of that emotion in parc ferme after the race was realizing that an Alpine had just won the race, the team he just left.

Leclerc was done dirty by Stroll. That first corner looked mighty greasy on lap 1.

Awesome to see Williams get double points. Maybe there's hope for Haas.

Overall Hungary and the Hungaroring delivered another interesting race. I hope Vettel keeps his podium. I also wish Sainz could keep the podium he was given. Maybe the FIA can just DQ Hamilton instead to keep the championship interesting.

DRAMA!

Because he is in bed with the FIA and is a spineless, prolapsed a##hole having f### entitled F### whom thinks every race should be handed to him with a blown out ass####.

At least Kyle Busch doesn't try to play the victim card every time he is booed. I can't think of a more unlikeable driver than Hamilton.

Good win for Ocon. Glad to see Lewis got beaten by the underdog. He even had the fastest lap point stolen from him.

Best GP I've seen in years.

You didn't watch the Italian GP, Sakhir GP or Turkish GP last year? They were all good. Granted HAM won the Turkish GP, but it was a super sketchy race.

No I didn't. The FIA has ruined F1 with boring tracks and cars, with rules skewed towards certain manufacturers.

They could have left him out and HAM would have had to pass him on track. Instead they stopped on the next lap to try and cover even though Max had a broken car and they knew HAM was on a really fast out lap.

Maybe the team didn't want Max punting Ham on the track or the appearances of such. Cutting their losses with a broke car and moving on without more drama.

Vettel DQ stands

The stewards disregarded the "no advantage" consideration as well.

“The Stewards determine to apply the standard penalty for technical infringements. Therefore they took into account, that it shall be no defence to claim that no performance advantage was obtained.”

We all knew it was coming. How often does the FIA reverse a decision... especially one that is so very obvious. There is no opinion here; you either have the liter or you don't. Sucks for Seb and AM. Can you imagine if he won?!

So Louie gets three free points and Max gets one free point... so we're still two points in the wrong direction.

Very happy for SAI, especially after his quali crash... but almost wish ALO would've been gifted that podium for his drive.

The Williams boys now officially P7 & P8. What a day for that team.

HAM is used to overtaking being much easier, because the people he normally overtakes are getting blue flags. It also helps when your wingman causes an accident that removes the next 4 fastest cars from the grid.

Loved Alonso's response that HAM ALWAYS complains when he has to pass someone.

They showed Russell getting out of his car before he completed the in lap.

With all the tech in the cars you would think there would be an exact gas tank measurement in real time.

He had already done the cool down lap, and missed the pit entrance coming back around. They probably didn't want him doing yet another full lap.

I mean, you don't need that fancy of tech, you just need the fuel pickup to he higher than where 1L of fuel remains.

It's not super uncommon to see guys stop the car on the cool down lap because they're so close. Seb did this but it was too late; Rus did it but was still legal; Oco did it because he missed the pit entrance.

There pretty much is.  They know exactly how much fuel they put in the car and can monitor fuel flow in real time so it's pretty easy to figure out how much is left at any given time.

It's unexcusable to not have a liter in the tank.

1 litre of fuel weights 1.5lbs.

Just design the tank to at minimum keep 1 litre of fuel for sample.

should be fairly easy

You know teams would be messing with it during the race if the sample was before the race. They'd figure out a way to put additives or something in the fuel before the start or during the race.

From reading the appeal, according to Aston it seems there was enough fuel in the car, the issue was with the FiA’s ability to extract the sample due to a pump issue.

a remnant from the refueling days?

otherwise, they'd give a sample before the race with legal fuel and then possibly dump in the secret sauce during the race that wouldn't pass tech.  if there wasn't a post-race sample taken, that wouldn't be found.

but now that there is no refueling during the race, it shouldn't matter.

One step closer to NASCAR with an “official fuel supplier to F1”…..but, the fuel companies do want to pay for R&D and the results that competition creates.

You always also want to tech fuel after the race. Prior gives too many options to cheat.

There were several teams that were or were suspected of burning oil for power and they changed the regulations about how much oil you could burn to stop it. I don’t think anyone outside of Ferrari and the FiA  knows if the super secret deal was the same issue, a related issue or something else entirely.

Take the car apart and drain the fuel lines, put the pump in a bucket and let that drip out and turn the damned fuel tank upside down. Catch the stuff in the fuel rails, probably a quarter liter there alone. Ffs. I will find another 700ml of fuel there and .... Someone asked before, how much is needed for the tests?
