The 'leads' extending from the AT-2 Anti Tank mine, are they a type of 'vibration sensor' that arms it?

I was at Ft Bliss in 1984 when they were testing the Sgt York, with an ROTC trip. Sure looked impressive, and to us younger idiots, though it seemed like an American version of the ZSU 57 2, but a good way to recycle old M48 hulls that ere still good, save money in a peace time cash strapped military. However, it was a complete failure.

Before the factory made kits started showing up I had been beating my head against the wall asking; why are we having to start from scratch, why weren't we prepared for the mission? How many people died before the up-armor kits got to theater? It's a shame that we throw away the lessons from previous conflicts so quickly. <End of rant, now back to our regular scheduled programing). |
