I always liked the M1009 (Blazer). They had better gearing than the M1008s for the highway and an Igloo cooler fit perfectly between the bucket seat when road tripping. When I was a Beach Master I had a M1010 Ambulance set up to haul beach marking equipment and converted into a 2 bunk RV once on site, it was way more comfortable than living in a GP Medium.

I've been tempted to get an M1010 and make it into a "EarthRoamer" type truck.

This, that’s what the rear driver was for (and the turbine engine).

I've always liked the look of wheeled vehicles with a big ass gun on them. Probably great to move around quickly on roads. Presume maintenance is easier than a tracked vehicle.

Crazy . I never have seen an M75 in any Korean war photos. I assumed we were still using half tracks

Both of them are popular with collectors, and with companies who need cross-country mobility. Spare parts are easy to get compared to most other tracked vehicles on the market.

Two questions:

Which chapter discusses the nuclear reactor on the NR-1?
What is a "shot tank"?

The reactor is just the heat source for a boiler. No big deal.

Shot tank... maybe the same thing as a ballast tank.

A guy near me has 2 M37 Dodges. I've been trying for a few years to sell one of them before they're too far gone to restore.
He won't sell. They were given to the local volunteer fire department. They are still red.

The ambulance / earth roamer idea sounds neat  I didn't realize they made a ambulance version of the CUCV.

@Forest

We ran on the beach all the time. All of our CUCV tires were upgraded to 33"x12.50" tires (no lift required) they worked much better than the OEM "pizza cutters". Our older 5ton 6x6s were converted to super singles, they floated over the sand better than the 10.00X20s did when aired down. The HMMWVs in stock form did ok on the beach.
