I need a distraction, so I'm posting up some additional pics of the car. As of right now, we're going with Guards Red. I got the list of custom colors available and really wanted a custom green color, but it is not available with the aerokit (I can't help like the silly wing, and Mrs. DJ wants it too) so we're likely going with a stock color.
Unless something unexpected changes, this is likely what it will look like.

Thanks guys. I'm excited as hell, but I have to settle in for the ~5 month wait. That said, if I'm online and not working or not here, I'm on Rennlist reading every possible tidbit of information. The new cars are finally starting to hit dealerships so we're finally getting some first hand pictures.

A friend of mine on Rennlist ordered a PTS Miami 997 many years ago and it was the first I’d seen in that color. It’s nice. Once I don’t need the back seats any more, I’m getting a 3/3RS. However, I’m not thrilled at all with the 992 preview vids on YouTube so far.  I asked Hennessy to hold me an allocation, but I’m just not sure. There is an ultraviolet ‘16 RS nearby that is tempting me right now.

If I’m in that territory, I might be looking at a Huracan to scratch that itch. But you’re right, that’s a hell of an offer from that dealer. Talked with the Exclusive team in Atlanta that does the PTS custom colors, and got the list of what is approved for 2021. The problem is you can’t do PTS on a car with the aerokit and we decided we wanted that more than a custom color. Voodoo Blue and Lizard Green were my top two - lizard was out (probably because it was a 991 color, even though lizard green interior pieces are still configurable), but voodoo was available. Ultraviolet was in my second tier along with several greens. |

Well, after having my truck broken into last night, today was another kick in the balls when the dealer calls to tell me aerokit are unavailable until March. So to keep my order, I’d have to change my December allocation to a March one, getting the car around June.
First world problems and all that (I know, I should be keeping busy foaming at the mouth about the election), still sucks. I’m debating buying a used GT3 or GT3RS instead.

Beautiful car! I have the most basic color ever (black) but I don't see the outside when on the track. I really would love a GT car but for what I like to do, (exclusively DE and a very rare date night) the 997.2S track prepped is hard to beat

It’s really hard to explain, but that’s as close as I can get. The only mod I can think of that I want to do is TrackSpec seat recline brackets. The carbon buckets sit a bit to upright for me. Other than that, I can’t think of anything I’d change. It’s just.....perfect. |

The “must haves” for me were - 991.2 GT3 - White - PCCB - Carbon buckets - Manual - Sport Chrono - Front axle lift - non-Black wheels - extra capacity fuel tank It took awhile to find this exact spec. I almost settled for “close enough” because I didn’t think one would show up. Glad I held out! The car had 3300 miles and i put 100 miles on it yesterday lol. I have had two HellCat Challengers before this car, and while I ABSOLUTELY loved those cars, I can definitely understand why this car costs twice as much. This GT3 actually feels like an extension of me instead of a powerful tool I’m controlling like the Hellcats (and every other performance car I’ve had before). It’s really hard to explain, but that’s as close as I can get. The only mod I can think of that I want to do is TrackSpec seat recline brackets. The carbon buckets sit a bit to upright for me. Other than that, I can’t think of anything I’d change. It’s just.....perfect. I could take or leave PCCB, LWB and SC. Must have extended tank and FAL, manual highly preferred but I might be willing to try PDK. Color must be bright - green preferred, but I could do lava, UV, red or Miami blue. Since I have no “perfect build” the challenge would be to find one soon enough to get some driving in without settling for something less than perfect. |

Back a few decades ago I needed a new car and was making a good salary as an Engineering Manager.
I looked at new Porches and I could have afforded one. I kinda of really wanted one. However, at the end of the day I decided that sending my kids to private school and building a new home was a better use of the money. I bought a Volvo 240 instead. Later on when I could afford one without having to make other choices I outgrew the desires to have an expensive sports car. |
