It seems to get very good reviews so 114 proof for $30 seems almost too good to be true.

ouch, that's a little high for it, usually about $20 around here

$20 is below cost. Cheapest I see it online is $26-27 plus shipping.

Both Spec's and Total Wine have had it for <20 in the last month as the regular price

I started out with Woodford Malted Whiskey and finished the night off with regular Woodford.

Because I’m staying on at my school for next year.

Tonight’s selection. Three new bottles, a mild wheater, an old standard and a hot high rye. All very different, all very delicious, all between $22 and $30. With some gourmet toffee on the side.

Picked up a bottle of 1792 BiB. Last one on the shelf. Once I finish this Pikesville Rye I will crack the 1792.

Alabama has moved to a monthly allocated bourbon release to help spread the wealth out instead (or in addition to) the annual November release.

Today’s score, Blanton’s and a single barrel store pick Eagle Rare:

Wanting to try some better bourbons but a lot of the bottles people seem to like are unavailable here.   I've had Bulleit, woodfords, knob creek and basil haydens and want to try something different.

In the $50-60 range I have seen Michter's, willet pot still, 4 roses single and sbs and bib and tucker 6 year.    I'd like something dark, sweet and flavorful.  Anyone have thoughts on which of these to try?

The Woodford Double Oak recommendation would be a pick for many, for me personally I don’t find it as complex and almost too sweet.  That’s what makes bourbon so great, flavors for everyone. Based on your request and the bottles you mentioned, I’d personally go with Four Roses Single Barrel, great pour. Either way, enjoy.

Thanks for the reply.  What's the difference between the single barrel and the small batch/sbs?

I ended up getting the bib and taylor and like it a lot.   Lots of rye pepper.   I like rich, complex flavors with a lot of depth and this fills the bill.

Grabbed the first bottle of Blantons I’ve seen in two years of living in AK. Opened it last night with a Buddy and it was a pretty tasty pour. Not OMG memorable but very delicious and easy to sip.

Nice.  I know some people don't like Eagle Rare, but I think it's great.  I've got 2 store picks of Eagle Rare and 2 store picks of Blanton's I haven't cracked yet.

Nothing at all. In fact, I'm finding more and more "budget" bourbons I like quite a bit over the expensive hard to find stuff

Folks are probably tired of hearing about it from me, but shit, look at WT101 and ET BiB. Outstanding bourbons punching well above their weight class

Nope. I have everything from Blanton’s, Stagg Jr, EH Taylor SB and single barrel, etc etc, but i mostly find myself sipping on Knob Creek, Wild Turkey 101, and Early Times BiB

Watch some blind whiskey tastings where 101 is in the mix, it always does well.

I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on them. I’m still in my exploration phase learning what I like and don’t like.

ETA my well stocked Kroger should have WT I’m not sure I’ve seen the ET BiB there. I’ll check next time I’m there

That”s my style, right there. One look at that photo and I immediately began to salivate!

Bourbon, bacon, chocolate, or better yet... chocolate dipped toffee, is the most perfect dessert ever.

We should hang out. I’ll bring the chocolate and bacon...
