56k is ok....you can still play and have fun....if you have a high end pc.
We play with low 200s all the way up to mid 400s all the time...no biggie! (ping times) I play under the name Dead*Cell. |

Heehee, now yer touching on one of my other passions...
I played Counterstrike since Beta1 and had a pretty good clan for a while. Then we ditched out when cheating was wide spread... Now I just got back into it and have been more leading than playng, but for a well known clan in the gaming world. If you guys ever want to play or want to organize something fun for AR15.Com members to play, let me know and I will lock up a server and we'll have some fun. I took about 6-8 months away from the game, so dont expect much from my skills. ]=) -- GB |

Possibly tomorrow night if you guys are interested...
Someone try to organize this here and get in touch with me through email. I can lock up the server at anytime. (It's out of Texas and I ping about a 80-110 from Western NY, so should be good for most people.) Keep in mind I am EST and can probably take a while to join you guys and maybe get Ed involved if he is home. (He is not that good. Heehee) The server info is included below so you guys can ping it or play on it tonight to see if its good for you. Its usually empty or full... there never seems to be a middle ground. I can lock it up as I said so that ONLY ar15.com guys play on it. (Well maybe invite one or two of my friends if we need bodies...) Ya know, this might sound crazy...but how about we start an [AR15.com] clan? Granted, I doubt we would get together to have "weekly matches" like a true "clan", or what have you, but it's a good way to know who here plays the game.
Besides, if anybody uses Gamespy to get a listing of their servers, they would be able to search for [AR15.com] and find any of our guys playing in a second. Actually, I'm about to get into a game right now, haven't played since...*yesterday*! If you want, search for that tag name, and you should find me. I play in Zapata Deathstar, Home of the Schwanz, Texas Best, and a few others religiously. Hope to see some of you guys there. XP-Jewbroni is now.... I moved on from CounterStrike, partially because the cheaters and partially because of the attitude you find in some of the public games where they will teamkill while the admin is away or they will just be a jerk in general.
I've been playing LOTS of the Firearms Mod for Halflife, it's not as polished as Counterstrike but it's got some good game play when there aren't any jerks in the game. The newest Firearms updated mod is included in this months PC Gamer cd that's included with the magazine, for those of you who have 56k the CD presents a decent way of getting the mod without having to spend days waiting to download it for free from [url]www.firearmsmod.com[/url] I've got a Cable modem and usually when I hit a good server I'm pinging away at 25-50 and rarely over 100 :) I'm usually playing Firearms on the weekends in one of the Clan servers under my alias, "Squirrel Hunter." I'm always the one who will do his best to leave a "tag" on the corpse of a person I've just blasted, on Counterstrike it was great because that's the first thing they see after dying and viewing straight down at their remains. I've been playing Firearms a little less than normal because I recently picked up "Black&White", this new game is like digital crack. Punkbuster works againsts cheats
get it at [url]www.punkbuster.com[/url] you run it before you get in a game. then you want to go to a server like DD's that requires you to have it. I have seen people running bots on servers without it |

I have played Firearms too and like alot of thing about it, but I always end up back with CounterStrike... another great mod is Day Of Defeat which is a WW2 based mod and a LOT of fun. (Think we have a server for that too... dont know when the last time I was on it was...)
As for the server, as an admin for it I plan on locking it for JUST the ar15.com guys and friends... it is limited to 16 people, so we cant invite the world. The server does NOT currently run PunkBuster, but we've been discussing installing it on there for a while and have just been too lazy to do so. It does however track stats across all the TNT Domain Servers, so we can see how we all do. ]=) -- GB |

Hey UGLYGUN: I agree Black&White is addicting as hell. Take Actraiser, Warcraft, Age of Empires, Civilization and throw them together with superior graphics...bingo, this great game comes out of it. I have a question for you, if you've gotten this far.
On Level 4, where the fireballs keep on' coming at you, I can never get away with any strategy that DOESN'T leave my town toasted. You get about 5+ minutes before they start doing damage, but no matter what I do, I can't keep my Spiritual Shield up long enough, without the worshippers wanting food. I'd happily give them Miracle Food, but all my prayer energy is going into the upkeep of that damned Shield. Any suggestions? Oh and when you get to that point, don't get pissed off when you can never get past that point: just quit the game and not play until you figure out how to do it, like I did [;)] Jewbroni~ P.S. - Goatboy, GeneStoner...anybody else who's REALLY interested in an [AR15.com] clan (hell you can just put the tag by your name and call it a "clan"), just reply to this point and we can get something together. I played B&W for a bit, but my creature enjoys taking a dump on peoples houses far too much...
]=) Actually he doesnt do that anymore as he is busy doing my dirty work and making sure the fields have rain and the people have food and wood... I haven't touched the game in a while though, probably over a month now. As for an ar15.com clan, I dont think we need or will be able to go that far, but wearing the tag when plaing may be a good idea so that people can find and identify each other easier. Jewbroni, I've restarted Black&White twice now after having a creature that wouldn't behave himself.
I'm in land2 right now just getting ready to expand to other villages, Land 2 and the second village is as far as I've gotten so I have no clue about land4. There are walk throughs online if that's your sort of thing though. I've heard of that Land4 problem and basically you gotta try to destroy the belief base of the other god, take out the villagers and destroy the prayer sites, you can't get all of them though and that's the glitch because there are like 2 villagers that are hidden in an area where you can't get to them. It might very well be a bug right now and will be ironed out with an update patch in the near future. In land1 the stupid creature wouldn't stop eating people when he was hungry so I laid the smack down on him, BIG TIME, but he never stopped eating people. Land2 is the place where creatures greatly increase their intellegence it seems, when you smack a creature around for eating something he shouldn't he remembers it where as in land1 he'd just keep on eating it. I've got him so he's learned about 4 miracles but he hasn't quite figured it all out yet on when or where to use them. His alignment is about .56 right now and mine is like .86, I'm trying to go the route of "good" and see how far I can get before I end up going evil or if I ever do, it's easy to go evil as far as I can tell but to be good you REALLY gotta work your ass off as the villagers really soak up your time. |

Might play Firearms for a bit later but I've got a Counterstrike mod on my system right now and I haven't been able to figure out how to restore all the original Counterstrike files back to original, the skins and everything are cool but they added new sounds that are rather gay. |

Yeah A_Fly (Dead*Cell). I remember playing with you last night, my scores were something along the lines of 25-10 and 30-8.
That is my "B" game right there, I'll see if I can put on my "A" game sometime tonight (i.e. 50+ kills). Give me an AK, M4, or MP5 and let me rock. As far as a clan, I didn't seriously mean we should actually PRODUCE an AR15 clan, I simply meant we should put [AR15.com] as our tag names, just so we can find each other and play together. Guys,...I have thought about buying counterstrike,...Is it cool? The only game I ever tried to play online was Spec Ops, and I hated it because dumb asses wouldnt play the game realistically. They would sit and wait for your character to spawn, and just open up on you, or some asshole would run around using nothing but a grenade launcher firing blind shots in every direction. Is there good communication between team members on counterstrike? I always thought it would be awesome to have all the team members in a squad based online game get two phone lines, and headset telephones so you could communicate for real.....SHOULD I BUY THIS GAME?!!!! if you guys tell me its good, I would definitely give a "AR 15 CLAN" a try.....

Madmedic. Buy Half-Life. You can then download, for free off the internet, Counter-Strike and Team Fortress Classic. Half-Life got Game of the Year for a reason. It's an excellent single player game.

Counterstrike and Firearms are derrivitives of Half-life (CS is basically the same game with a different look/feel to it, more realistic and lifelike, not cartoony). You play in first person (you don't really see yuor character, just their hands/weapons) and it is all about personal tactics. Very worthy of purchasing. |
