Ummmmmm..... Railgun, I was joking about that last part.

I do, however, believe that between Tom, Ted, and Norm, Norm would be the hardest target for the antis, and would appeal to the widest number of non-members who are thinking about joining the NRA.

I knew that.  *ahem*

Imagine though Ted having a haircut, wearing a suit etc.

This guy as a child was a guitar prodigy. That in itself shows a highly evolved mathmatical thinking mind not to mention good hand eye coordination. His involvement with early rock and roll bands pretty muched shaped his personality. But he is very intelligent=well read. Opinions he verbalises aren't just his mouth over running his brain, he has logical thinking replies to authentic questions.

Also his vast experience with the media machine gives him quite an edge...he has fought the good fight all along anyway.

NORMAN In my opinion is a schill  to thwart the NRA.

Railgun....

If Norman wants it, he better do more than make some discrete back door overtures to NRA Board members.  He needs to go public, not to the effect that he wants to be NRA president, but on gun issues.

I want to see him on the news with guns.  And NOT pigeon grade over-and-unders.  I want to see him holding an AR or AK over his head and screaming, "From my cold, dead hands." I want him to look Katie Couric in the eye and tell her that on the morning news on the day after a mass shooting. And he has to do it with no guarantee of a position with the NRA. THEN and only then should he approach the board.  THAT is leadership.  Anything short of that is politics.  Heston was a powerful spokesman years before his presidency.

In short, he must disassociate himself from his career with the government.  Not taking anything away from his military experience, he has, in fact, been a government employee his entire life and is on their payroll in retirement.  He even had to be approved by congress to become a general.

Before he can lead the likes of us, he must demonstrate that he will go out on a limb with us and be willing to die on that hill.

Broom stuck,
You still haven't explained what the connection is between sexuality and gun rights.  Why is that?

I talked it over with several 30 something soccer moms and they think Tom is to old for the "stud" angle. He is still a nice guy. Norman would be less "attackable" as the war hero.

Don't vote for him - based on whatever criteria you choose to base your decision on. I don't care.

Oh really?  Seems you and M4 cared enough to "encourage" me through insults and attacks to explain my views.  I believe it even resorted to name calling didn't it?

My point is this - A representative for firearms should be a strong male role model. look at our kids today, many are products of fatherless homes.

Screw Soccer-moms opinions!  Like I said before, their husbands are whipped, so the role model should be set as a "conviction" to the weak -gett'in dragged around by the Johnson - husband.

Throughout history, male leadership has always proven to produce successful results for a country or for a family.  We all ask why our ideals and social structure is going down hill.  Simple.... husbands cheating on their wives in the white house (takes a real man to cheat on his wife) , people that call themselves "HOLY REVEREND"  fathering bastard children…need I go on?   So tell me where a “guy kisser” stands to be a good role model to our kids and misguided soccer-moms to follow?  It wont!!  Soccer-moms will continue to think of men as wuss’s, and kids will continue to grow up angry and discontent   AS THEY ARE NOW!

GOLGO---- A leader or representative needs to be morally correct for those who he wants to set an example for.  An immoral person is no good to anyone but the immoral.

But then again, some don’t stand by that kind of ideal because they are threatened by it.

What else would Tom do for money to further his career?  I think he is a seriously bad choice.

Boom Stick,
Certainly Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, Golda Meiere (sp), and Margaret Thatcher all back up your ideas regarding the inability of women to govern.  Just when I think you have reached the nadir of idiocy, you manage to find unplumbed depths of stupidity.  You are like some sort of cretinous bathysphere.
Let's try this one more time.  What is the connecton that you perceive between sexuality and gun rights?  What does your version of masculinity have to do with the 2nd ammendment or organizations dedicated to protecting it?

I don’t think I ever said females are weak. (So typical of the sensitive ones to overreact) Many women were great leaders. Yes, even God ( I know you don’t want to talk about him, but for the purpose of an example....) chose a female as a national leader/prophet !   “Soccer-moms” are the problem. Weak male role models are the problem. You guys want to put another weak male role model in a position to represent you.

I'm simply pointing out how you're setting yourselves up for failure.

GOLGO, I understood your words except for how "bathysphere" fits with "cretinous".    Is that a rocket scientist term,  or a underwater scientist's term?   What,  I'm a vulgar ocean sphere?

Don’t quit your day job, stick with rocket science!

I guess this could have been a productive forum.  As usual after about 10 good volleys, it degenerated into one of the big three:  prono/obscenities, sexuality, libertarinism.

I want a straight white male for NRA president.  I will accept and support any LEADER.

I will not go into the sexual preferences of the 300 Spartans who gave us "Molon Labe."  I will not dwell on Lawrence of Arabia. And there was some question about Alexander the Great. Remember, however, Bill Clinton was a straight white male.

I mentioned Susan Howard as a possible president.  A woman might be good.  As long as the person is a warrior and a shooter, that's what we need.

Please remember, we don't know who is reading this forum.  Probably some NRA board members, probably some of our enemies.

The question was "Would Tom Selleck make a good..."  I think he would.  I don't know if he is gay, married, or both.  He has the national status, he is an actor and can take direction. This means that he can be coached on how to deal with the cameras and media and what to say. He looks good, too (don't even think it, Broomstick!)

How many times have we seen the best of our leadership fall on their face on TV (LaPierre) just because they were in a media enviorment that was not their element?  Why are anti-gun celebrities so effective even though they are stupid and wrong?  Because they can land on their feet in front of the media.  The media is one of our worst enemies.  Send a sniper to kill a sniper.

I can't believe I'm wasting my time answering this:

Once more, from the top:

You're problem was a reality perception. You think that Tom Selleck kisses guys. Never mind all the women he has been fortunate to bed down on and off screen, and never mind that he is an avid shooter and NRA member, and never mind he is an actor in a role...you feel as though he wouldn't make a good president because he kissed Kevin Kline.

Now, we're not talking about Ellen DiGeneris (sp) here, but we're talking about Tom Selleck, right. A guy's guy...a man's man.

Fine, if that's your criteria, bully for you.

My personal feeling, and I am among some others that can't quite figure out your logic, is that it doesn't make any difference. Again, if he was making hardcore gay porno flicks shown in a 25 cent peep show, I'd agree with you. But, he hasn't.

And as far as Father's go...You don't think that Selleck is not worthy of hero worship? Magnum PI? Did you know that he was slated to be Indiana Jones, but he couldn't get out of his Magnum PI shooting schedule, so Lucas and Speilberg cast Ford instead. And I believe Ford kissed Brad Pitt in The Devil's Own. Is he a "homo" too?

Let me ask you, do you do something at work that you may not enjoy? Probably...and hey, you get paid for it don'tcha? Maybe the total job experience thing for you is great, except for that one little thing they have you do that you feel isn't so kosher. But on paydays, you run to the bank. Because, you need the work to live and eat. Actors are the same way.

We have all heard your views, and don't want to hear any more. Nor, does anyone want to hear anything else that anyone has to say regarding this infamous "kiss" of Mr. Selleck's. This thread has travelled a very obtuse path.

Let's just agree to disagree and move on to something better.

Stick with the theme of the treads.
