Due to the recent flurry of attention this rifle caliber has received, I'm sure that there are many of you (myself included) who can see where this is headed. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see a ban on them proposed within a year. So what's an honest, law abiding citizen to do? Well, my way of thinking is that instead of going out and spending five thousand dollars, we should seriously consider the quality fifty caliber upper receivers that are available to us today! They are much less expensive and since they aren't serial numbered, our friends at BATF would have a much tougher time tracking them down if a ban is passed. I know that it seems far fetched, but so did  a certain magazine ban, didn't it?

If you get a .50 it would be most advisable to get a reloading setup for the round. For example the RCBS Ammomaster, with conversion, is .50 capable. 750gr AP and API are fine rounds for use against light armor. If you go to gun shows Raufoss and SLAP rounds can be found at premium prices, but can be invaluable in certain situations.
