Actually picked it up twice because it rolled off the first time. "Popped" both times. It was right as I kind of leaned back to set it on top of the post, and the weight of the ball pushed into my chest. Probably did it wrong. This year it was a lot easier. No pops. View Quote So, I will do more pistol and more pistol, some more gym time but not for the pegboard, learn the rope climbing technique I saw some folks doing and practice my chug. I got the sled this year but blew the rope that I got last year, I cleared rifle but after my shooting glasses fogged up I started missing the pistol plates. I need shooting glasses with the bifocals at the top to see my sights clearly. For self defense I am fine but for shooting clays at 25yds and the other plates I need at longer ranges I have to use the glasses. I started with the long plate on the pistol and got that on the second round, then dropped the first clay. After plugging the first hostage I got sloppy. I was prepared for the rifle and got all 8 with 19 rounds. I didn't use a bipod so I know I can drop that time a few seconds also. Chugging, well I guess I need to go out back and do it weekly until I can get the 6 pack. |

Next year, I won't even tackle the prep for that but I will start practicing the chug. I gotta do something to drop the time. Great event, amazing turnout, lots of impressive runs. The amount of blessings provided by our sponsors can not be overstated. Thank you geissele, MOA targets, forward controls group, ALGdefense, bluegrass targets, american defense mfg, Criterion barrels, damn yankee kydex, night vision inc, abe and moe, AIM surplus, Arisaka defense, and all others I may have missed. Your generosity is highly appreciated!
Was I the only one who sustained an outward injury? "I signed a waiver" @L_JE do you have a link to the high res versions of the group pic? |

Another great event. Big thank you to all the staff for putting on an amazing event, very opulent kitchen setup and food, wont find harder workers anywhere than those keeping all the warriors fed and fat.
Huge thank you to all the sponsors for awesome prizes - And those small time outfits and sometimes single people cranking out unique crafts, laser engraved plaques, steel, do dads etc to go in the prize pool. Cola warrior is always a great social time, getting to meet people from all over to just hang out and have a good time, and watch the pain and suffering of the noobs and the regulars all the same. Some choice pics to follow. For the rest of you unwashed.... sack up and come to a cola warrior near you. |

I blame Stu and his "Close enough" zero. "Its just hitting a bit to the left" (shot the hostage to the left of the clay )

Hey guys I'd like to thank everyone for coming and making this event be the way it should be. I appreciate everyone's patience with us in the kitchen. We were slammed at times bit it's all worth it in the end. Thank you for all of your donations to make it work and to everyone who jumped in to help, even if it was just me yelling at you from up on the trailer to "Take this fucking pan and put it in that holder shit thing!" We managed to make it through with no equipment breakage and all of our fingers in tact this year. Just a few stellar burns in the chaos. As always we did some experiments and tried new things, which actually turned out successful again. We're gonna keep pushing the bar again for next year as long as I don't get transferred out of state. Myself and all of the kitchen crew by day 3 are always dead and asking ourselves why we do it. Saying "I'm not doing this shit again next year." But after recovering, we always come around because honestly, we love doing it. I appreciate everyone! See y'all on the next go round!

I’ve only lifted a 240 lb stone and technique matters a whole lot. Gravity is a bitch!

I made the Atlas Stone with a 115lb mold. That's probably pretty close. I've never put it on a scale.
I used 5000psi concrete following manufacturers specifications and added some fiber strands to it. Painted it up blue with that garage floor epoxy and there you have it. It's challenging from that divot, and it's also a pain getting it above your chest if you don't have the right hold. Some folks can just bend over and pick it up. Some can't do it at all. That's kind of where I wanted to be. Men and woman can do it, or fail it...and folks do fail it. |
