The forward moounted device is an M68 (Aimpoint Comp M) optical dot sight, the rear mounted device is a Night Vision optic, but I am not sure which.
This setup is basically your standard Lowlight, Nighttime rig. |

JayDee has it right - Aimpoint Comp ML in front and it looks like an ITT 6015 night vision scope aft. The Aimpoint puts a red dot over the target, the ITT amplifies available light.

Yup... I was thinking it was the ITT 6015, but I wasn't sure...
What your looking at is about $3k worth of accessories on a $1k rifle, but it'll effectively put a hole in your target at 1-200 meters on a moon-less night [;)] Coyotes anyone? [:D] |

Also the Aimpoint upfront is the Comp M, the Comp ML doesn't have the settings to be compatible with the nightvision device. The Comp M has two nightvision settings. |

The basic difference is in the resolution of the AN/PVS-14. But I think Wes from MSTN can elaborate more.
I don't know of any FEDERAL law that limits the use of night vision. But you'll have to check with your STATE laws about weapon mounting the NV optics. In Kali, it's legal to own NV as long as its not weapons mounted, go figure. |

As far as I know, there are no restrictions on the use of weapon mounted NVD's here in Florida. For those of you suffering in PRK,NY,Mass. and other like-minded states, check with your local gun grabbing gov't. Sorry couldn't resist.[:P]

Legal in Michigan too. In fact you can hunt varmints with it up to 23:00 every night when in season. It just has to be mounted on either a shot gun or rim fire.

NE stands for Night Enforcer. ITT won't sell them to cilvilians,they say they're for police/LE, but there's no law saying their dealers can't. I purchased this from Wes Grant @ MSTN. Wes is a good guy, answering not only my e-mails but also phone calls, as I tried to figure out the best setup for me. Ryan @ BlueLineGear also was good about answering some other questions I had about some of his products.
The rifle itself has been bearcoated by RMA, but the 6015 has a factory finish. I can't recommend ITT enough. I had a problem after using it the first time and expected to go through a hassle with customer service, but all the people @ ITT were courteous and professional and the total turnaround time for the repair (loose wire) was 6 days door to door with shipping & ins. paid by ITT. This is why I recommend any of you guys considering a NVD, go with a reputable co. and buy NEW so you have a full warranty. These are labor intensive to repair, so it won't be cheap. That stuff on e-bay looks like a bargain, but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and its especially true with NVD's. Sorry for the lecture, just trying to help you guys avoid expensive headaches later on. |

The AN/PVS-14 allows the user to manually adjust the gain (brightness) of the image intensifier. Most 6015 models do not have this feature, except for the 6015P model. This feature is supposedly an advantage for indoor/ urban environments. Also, I think the rubber eyecup is standard on the PVS-14, and optional on certain models of the 6015. The PVS-14 usually runs around $3400 on up, the "standard" 6015 starts around $2900. Tube generation, resolution, and the variable gain feature will determine how big the hole in your wallet gets. Not 2 Of course, the Colt 6550 today costs about $2k by itself, but when they were new, you could have gotten it for $1k. For most, to duplicate this rig, figure spending in excess of $5k, if you don't have anything right now. Truly, a very special, very unique M4gery, although it is lacking a RAS, nice pics, and nice rig there Hoople. I am sure you enjoy it. |
