View Quote This is an excerpt from The Hill; The U.S. is reportedly ramping up attacks on Russia's electric power grid. The move is a warning to Moscow of how the Trump administration is using new authorities to unleash cybertools in a more aggressive manner, The New York Times reported Saturday, citing current and former government officials. The officials told the newspaper that the U.S. was deploying computer code within Russia's grid and other targets along with other actions to combat Russian disinformation and hacking in the 2018 elections. Proponents of the action reportedly said it was warranted given alerts from the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI that Russia had inserted malware that could hurt U.S. power plants, oil and gas pipelines and water supplies. I believe it’s Election Day down there too.
I think Uruguay get a lot of their power from Hydro I’m Brazil. |

Happened just as folks were heading to the polls to vote. Be interesting to see if it was an ICS attack or just old equipment finally going tits up.

At least they don't have to worry about all the meat in their freezers going bad.

I'd like to call 'Dupe,' but with the atrocious spelling of the two country's names in the first post, I really can't... Who searches for 'Argentine' or 'Uraguay?' https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/31267/ar15_search_spelling_uraguay-981356.png View Quote |

Somebody raged because Argentina lost in the Copa America opener against Colombia yesterday.

Crazy stuff! I read that only 450,000 people got the power back by now. That leaves 47,550,000 still in the dark. I wonder what is happening there now.
Argentina is not known as a quiet place - when police went on strike a few years back, rioting and looting was of biblical proportions. And people can only own .22 rifles there. So most of fighting was done with machetes and clubs. If this was to happen in the US, it would truly be SHTF. |

Best of luck to them whether they be fucking in the dark, or looting. Hoping for new liveleak videos.

Just saw that power had been restored to 87% of customers. So the whole thing lasted about 24 hrs. While scary, this event was not deadly. But it could have been. Drinking water distribution was shut down - no power to the pumps. If this lasted more than 3 days, it would have been a real chaos.
Makes one think about preparing for such an event here... We did have a Northeast Blackout, but it wasn't THE WHOLE DAMN COUNTRY! |

Lots of Europeans in those countries. Many relocated there after the war.
Didn't Bush just buy a load of land in Paraguay? Would have made grandpa Prescott happy. Power failures put out the lights; no lights at night, can't see what's happening. Who has NVDs? |
