A secret ftl space drive hidden in a mountain that defies all known laws of physics or a couple space rock impacts live we've seen evidence of millions of times before? People see shooting stars every night, there's a ton of crap orbiting the sun at high velocity. There is a reason the moon is covered in craters. |

I believe we should have an Apollo / Manhattan Project thing: Send a huge radar transceiver into a polar orbit around the Sun at 1 AU.
With solar/ion I think it could be done. Such a device (with a large enough antenna) could detect objects long before anything in the plane of the ecliptic could. In this age, there is really no excuse for getting blindsided by rocks from space. |
