Yes. Family tradition at all holiday dinners , I was 5 or 6 when I had my first glass of wine. European background so that probably has a lot to do with it. View Quote |

Maybe, and that's all I'm going to say about it.
At some point, the way things are going, I expect that question to be on the 4473. |
started drinking beer at 5, first drunk at 12, drank all thru high school whenever I wanted
Had friends that were 21 in HS that had access to the class 6 on base. I had lots of "friends".
I'm fairly certain I drank more alcohol before I was 21 than I have since........and I'm 45.

In high school, I used to have a homeless guy that lived in my car in exchange for going into the store for alcohol purchases for my friends and I.
He slept in my car for a couple weeks, then just one day he was gone. |
I’ve only ever drank when underage, a little here and there in Mexico when I was 17
Only a few times. My mother occasionally gave me a beer when I was 20 and she took me out to the bar the day before my 21st.
I dated a girl that was 21 when I was 19. We drank a few times. |
We always had a Keg of Beer at family get -to- gethers. It was nothing to see my cousins, my sister, and myself sitting there with a beer. If you were over thirteen it was the norm.
It wasn't kept from us, so we didn't go looking for it. I have had no interest in drinking in twenty five years. |
No. Friends did but I never saw the allure. I gave it a try On my 21st.
Started about 12 or 13
By 16 had friends who could get served 6 packs, by 18 we were having house parties that would go through 10-12 cases of beast. That was over 25 years ago, I still hang out with a few of those people |

Every chance I got. The best years of my life. View Quote I got drunk and sick off Schlitz Malt Liquor Bull in the 8th grade.I liked the commercials so that’s what I wanted my friends brother to buy. My dad laughed as I was puking then proceeded to whip my ass when I was done. Made me wake up at 6:30 the next morning and do yard work all day with him in the cool Alabama summer heat. |

My brother is 4 years older than me and we look alike. He would let me borrow his driver's license. I was the king of many parties for supplying booze.
Aside from sips of my Dad's beer when I was a little kid, no.
Yep.
Long story, short: my father’s WW II Marine vet friend was my backup babysitter when I was a young girl. Lunch at “Uncle” Mike’s was half a baloney and cheese sandwich, a handful of chips, and a couple of ounces out of his Schlitz tallboy, because “Friends share and share alike, you know. No need to tell your dad about this.” And I never did. Of course, I couldn’t spit but what Uncle Mike reported back to my father about it, that being the whole point. My father was big on “Trust, but verify.” |
From 18-21 I probably drank more than I have in the past decade
No, but that's because in the UK you can legaly drink alcohol from the age of 5 !
My Dad gave me a beer while barbequing in the back yard. I thought it was a trick. No trick. I think I was 17 or 18.
Many states back then had lower drinking ages. In AZ there was a grandfather clause and I was able to drink before hitting 21. Most on base e-clubs allowed it too. |
The drinking age was 18. I did drink on a few occasions, but not many. I didn't really have a taste for it.
I didn't drink with any regularity at all until I was over 21. I'm back to rarely drinking again. I guess I don't care one way or the other. |
I'm not sure if I spent much time sober between the age of 16 and 18 due to a lack of proper adult supervision.
Having seen the studies on how much damage is done to the brain by alcohol until it's fully formed it was obviously not the best of choices. |
My Dad gave me a sip of whiskey when I killed my first deer at 13. After that, it was an occasional beer or sip of whiskey here and there. I started running with some friends around 14 that had older brothers/sisters/etc that could get booze. That was in the 70s and widely considered coming of age type things. It was a glorious time to be alive.

Results as expected, and in general I would say this is representative of the “law-abiding” segment of the population.
Gives you some real perspective on Heinlein’s famous quote about free men and their approach to tyrannical government. |

I went to high school in a small town where it seemed if you were tall enough to put the money on the liquor store counter, you could buy what you wanted.
I was drinking 101 proof Wild Turkey whiskey and driving drunk on weekends at the age of sixteen. Does that answer the question? |
I grew up in a European household. I had wine and beer at the dinner table from my earliest memories.
Yes. It was easy to get. We had a few different spots to buy up. In addition, there was a hobo named "OG" that would buy up for you if you let him get some.
Yes as a young Marine I drank well underage and every chance I could.
11 years old, and a stolen miller high life. Drank it in the drainage ditch with my best friend.
