It's wonderful Ð and I'm betting that it's also bogus. "General Hawley"? They couldn't even mention his first name? Hope to God I'm wrong.

Almost ANY general would be better than Clark

This was not written by General Hawley. It was written by one of my favorite political commentators, Larry Miller, who writes for The Daily Standard. The full text of his column can be found at the following link: http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/000/762dbnlm.asp

The New Year thing is new - I remember first coming across that over 6 months ago - it honestly could have been LAST New Year, but I just don't remember that ending before. Excellent rant, no matter who it is from.

OUTSTANDING WORK FROM THE FOLKS AT SNOPES!! Not only do they ID and credit the real author (as NIMROD1193 pointed out), but they go on to actually feature comments and a rehash on the same issues from GEN Hawley himself. An EXCELLENT web page and great read, indeed: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/hawley.htm

Mr. Miller is an oustanding writer in addition to being one of the funniest comedians and actors in Hollywood. Here is a link to one of his best columns: Coin of the Realm You can also click on "Search" and search for all of his articles by name. Read them all.
