I have exactly ONE live round out on my reloading bench (.45ACP).  Don't know why.

7.62 X 39 in my Jimmy, along with some .45 & .223.

House has .375 H&H mags lying here & there, dresser, headboard, living room cabinet, & on top of my dvd player, & Lg screen tv. Just put a box of CCI .22 stingers in my sons shoe for a pseudo Hanukkah gift.

Not really, all of my ammo is either in a gun/magazine or in the gun stuff drawer (BTW, if that drawer gets any heavier, I might need a prybar to open it).

I can see having a few rounds on display, but how do you guys end up with live ammo all over the place like that? Are you loading and clearing weapons all over the house? Do you get a sudden urge to play with a box of ammo while watching TV and lose track of a few rounds? Even the bathroom! I can see having a gun in the bathroom (never know when you might be attacked in the shower, after all), but how do you end up with ammo in there?

I had a live 9mm round in my pocket once (don't know why), and while using the restroom at an Academy, I accidently left it on the lavatory counter.

Of course!

The work bench is littered with .308, .30-06, 9mm and .223 in ones and twos here and there.

The house has nothing any where except my office that would say to a visitor that I have guns. I'm careful to even remove catalogs and magazines to my office. Once there you'll take a minute or two to notice the books and manuals on the shelves. Inside the closet there are enough spare parts to build a couple of AR's.

On my coffe table in my living room;
.22lr
.45acp
a loaded stripper clip and loader of 5.56
and a 7mm Rem(?), which is weird because I don't own anything like that .[>:/]

In my shop (out back) and in my "office" (Mrs. HardShell doesn't like for me to call it the "gun room," even though that is much more accurate), YES - loose cartridges in every nook and cranny.  But in the rest of my house, NO WAY - I work really hard to restrict access to the "gun stuff" to just me & my wife...

Was cleaning out my car in order to put it up for sale and found all kind of various calibers, mostly under the seats but also the glovebox and trunk.  Makes me wonder what would happen if I tried to cross the border into Canada without finding them all first.

edit to add, anyone need a 92 honda civic let me know![;)]

Yeah, a few loose rounds here and there.

I'm at work now.  Let's see, there's a 50 BMG round on my desk near pictures of my kids...

Go to the range a few times and come back with loose rounds in the pocket, or use up all but a few rounds out of a box and not want to have a real partial box of ammo sitting around. Do that a few times and soon you'll have loose rounds everywhere.  Clean the car out a  few times and find the loose rounds rolling around that some have mentioned. Then you need to consolidate the ammo somewhere.

nope, I keep track of exactly how much ammo that I use each and every round is accounted for, I dont have any reason to have loose ammo
laying around? I keep it all organized and stored properly in my ammo storage area.

Should have seen our tent in Afghanistan.  We had rounds every where!  People would bring in bent casings and brass that caused a malfunction in the GAU.  We had 9mm round laying around, 5.56, and 7.62 hangin' around all over.  I'm sure you army types would have had a field day! hehehe.....

Not laying around the house, but on top of the safe is a 6" tupperware bowl that's my "loose ammo catcher". It has---let's see....
4- 3" mag 20ga shells
2- 2 3/4" 12ga 00buck shells
1- 2 3/4" 12ga slug
(dig, dig)
8- .380 hollowpoints (for the GF's Colt)
1- AK 7.62X39 round, pristine condition (I don't own an AK)
3- Winchester .223 rounds
1- fully loaded AR mag
(dig, dig)
3- 357mag hollowpoints (158gr, I think. Shot up all the 110gr I'm sure)
2- CorBon 45ACP hollowpoints
About 20 .22LR hollowpoints (Super-X)
2 green followers for AR mags
AH HAH! There's the choke wrench for my Mossberg!!
Some various and sundry dirt, dust & pocket lint.

I have rifle ammo everywhere, .45s laying around randomly. At least 200 rounds of .22lr lying around in my truck and a full box of .223 in my Jeep.

Last time I was at my girlfriend's house, there were 5 rounds of .308 lying in front of the TV. Her family doesn't even own a .308, her dad is a die-hard .30-'06ixer.

Empty shell casing are everywhere in both our houses and yards...

What is this caliber?

I've never heard of it.

It was used by the Czechs after WWII for their version of the AK-47. Supposedly their version was a better gun, but eventually the guns were made in the normal 7.62x39mm. I think it was called the VZ-58. Someone, maybe Ohio Ordnance is making a semi-auto version right now.

Heh.

Yeah, it's all over the Got damned place!
In front of me loose 5.56, 9mm, 45ACP, 7.62X39, 7.62X54R,.308 tracers amongst various mess and trash. It's all over the car, under the bed, in pockets, in corners, in the coach, under everthing........I'm not even gonna start on empty casings![rolleyes]

It was used in the VZ-52, it is exactly the same as the 7.62x39 except 45 millimetres long

VZ-52 is an SKS type, but better made and removable magazine, in '57 they rechambered it into the common commie round, then renamed the weapons VZ52/57

VZ58 is an AK variant, but was only ever available in 7.62x39

Yes, I'm often suprised at how often I find it here and there.

The funniest is the past couple of times I've sold a work truck I've had for years.

Both times the trucks were fairly clean, but wanted to do a final cleaning to find anything I might have missed.

Both times I found between 20-40 rounds of ammo that I didn't even know was there.
