I have a black dog. I don't have a white dog. Ergo, the black dog gets food, the white dog gets nothing.

That was a line from "The Missing" which I saw Friday. In it there as a line about feeding your good side or your bad side, which is at war with eachother inside a person. "The Missing" is a pretty good movie. I'd recommend it. |

Mine are black and white. They both get four carefully measured cups per day. The good one gets the biscuits.

oh,sorry. So have you established you alpha-ness sufficiently that you're in complete control during the feeding process? Would they allow you to take their food bowl while they're eating? I get the feeling that if I were to stick my hand near her mouth while she was eating, I'd be missing a hand.

Well, handling your dog while they are eating isn't really necassary in most cases but you should still be able to do it. Becoming alpha in your dog's eyes is attained by obedience training and firm but fair corrections when they mess up and lavish praise when they do what you want. To be honest with you, I wouldn't want someone picking at my food when I am eating either, some dogs are always going to be food protective no matter what, just don't touch the bowl while they are eating, simple as that. To answer your question, yes, I can touch their food, I could eat out of their bowl if I wanted to. But then again, I train my dogs every day and there is zero question who is in charge in this house. |

I wil not have a dog that doesn't, keeps the kids safe. |

Let's see, I have a black and white dog and a black dog, so I guess the black part gets the most food. The black and white dog also makes sure she and the other one are feed by 0730 and 1700. If you are late for the 1700 food call she does let you know about it!

I feed the reddish-gold (Golden Retriever) more than the black one (Rottweiler) cause the Reddish-gold one is mine and the Rottie lives next door but comes to visit her every night and they eat together. She won't eat unless I feed Rottie. Ain't love grand?
