"Ray-id Dirt Roe-hode"

I despise stereotypical "Country" Music.  Although, I must admit that the best song of the year is a "Country" song, but the commercial, run-of-the-mill, money making stuff is horrible.

I know you want it,
the thing that makes me,
what the guys go crazy for.
They lose their minds,

same time maintain your halo,
just get the perfect blend,
plus what you have within,
then next his eyes are squint,
then he's picked up your scent,

la la-la la la,
warm it up,

OMG, you too?  God, I hate that song.  I don't know why all of the local radio stations play it.  The rock stations, the R&B stations, the pop stations, even the "listen at work" stations, they all play it.  I hate it.

New Clay Walker song.  Drives me up the wall.  Sounds like the perfect disconnected leftist logic: find two unrelated things and start asking 'why' questions.

How in this world can we put a man on the moon,
And still have a need for a place like St Jude's?
And why is one man born,
In a place where all they know is war?
An' a guy like me,
Has always been free.

An' how can two people who built a lovin' home,
Try for years an' never have a child of their own?
When somewhere out there tonight,
There's a baby no-one's holdin' tight:
In need of love.
To me, that don't add up.

But I wasn't there the day you filled up the oceans.
I didn't get to see you hang the stars in the sky.
So I don't mean to second guess you,
Or criticise what I don't understand.
These are just a few questions I have.

An' why did my cousin have to die in that crash?
A good kid, only seventeen, I still wonder 'bout that.
It seems unfair to me,
Some get the chance to chase their dreams,
An' some don't.
But what do I know?

I wasn't there the day you filled up the oceans.
I didn't get to see you hang the stars in the sky.
So I don't mean to second guess you,
Or criticise what I don't understand.
These are just a few questions I have.

Why do I feel like you hear these prayers of mine.
When so many oughta be ahead of me in line?
When you look down on me,
Can you see the good through all the bad?
These just a few questions I have.

A few years ago there was a song called “Butterfly” by a band called “Crazy Town.” Thankfully they have both faded into obscurity.

Also, the name of their band was the same name of a calculator game I wrote in which you kill hordes of rabid monkeys. They stole my name, damnit! [wave] [whacko]

Maybe it's because I live in Massachusetts, but these gratingly annoying old songs seem to be cropping up a lot on my car radio lately.

"Da da da" by Trio

"Puttin' on the Ritz" by Taco

"Take a Walk on the Wild Side", by Lou Reed

And let's not forget: "The Little Drummer Boy" by the Euclid Phlomm Chorale, or some such...

Yes, too much crap out there.  Time to revisit good music.

And from where I stand
I reach my hand
To catch a love blow
But the selfish stare
Though electric air
Is a blinding light show

I see the face
That has no place
But somehow knows
The truth is clear
But hiding here
In the blinding light show
The blinding light show

The place is strange
The colors change
The dancer slows
And shifts his pace
And lifts his face
Into the blinding light show

A naked heart is
Quickly torn apart
And the burning grows
When you try to think
It only makes you sink
Into the blinding light show
The blinding light show
The blinding light show

And while the crowd keeps
Calling out "Hoorah"
Their greedy hands
Keep clutching out
"Hoorah, hoorah, hoorah"
The aimless mob is calling out
"Hoorah"
And unseen candles
Burning out
"Hoorah, hoorah, hoorah"
The blinding light show
The blinding light show

And the sounds of truth
Ring hollow
In this pretense world of show
And the footlights
Burn their pathways
As the profits come and go
And the seeming some-day singer
Lives the Carney Barker's dream
Selling all by saying nothing in
The language of a scream
The language of a scream

And the blind shall
Lead the sighted
As we lose the candle glow
No one knows tomorrow
In the blinding light show
The blinding light show
The blinding light show

The why?  Life sucks a big fat one sometimes.  The questions in the song seem to presuppose that bad things aren't supposed to happen.  That is exactly how people make themselves miserable, because they cannot understand what is going on, and they fixate on some event and make themselves depressed.
I am no stranger to questioning.  My mother, who is a Christian, used to tell me how much my questions scared her.  Questions about such things as how God may have used evolution as a mechanism of creation were routine.
However, there is a diffence between asking 'why', and writing what sounds (to my ears) like stream of consciousness rambling.
I guess it is actually a good song.  Heck if I know...
