I've heard of Guiness and ice cream floats, but I'd never try it.  Kahlua or Bailey's and ice cream would be good though.

Depends on 2 things.

1) How drunk are you?

2) How long since you've last puked on your shoes?

It's actually not a bad milkshake, rather than a float.  I tried some with french vanilla and Miller Lite(best I could do at the time), and it wasn't too bad.  I imagine it would be really good with some stout, especially sweet stout.

I was thinking that fine kind of cinnamony aftertaste the 1554 has would contrast nicely with Vanilla.

I don't think so. ROOT beer and vanilla ice cream make a black cow, but that combo seems like a good way to ruin 2 independently wonderful tastes.

I've done it.  All I can say is "no".

Also, just because Ice Cream looks cool in Guiness, "no".

Cereal expands and disolves too much in beer...

Beer IS a cereal, though.

If I'm looking for an instant Oatmeal breakfast, it's usually a bottle of Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout. [:D]

Yuck![puke]

Dr Pepper and Vanilla ice cream would make a good float combo.

I'd try it.  As long as it is good beer, and as you said, the cinnamon should contrast nicely.  Let us know how it turns out.  My buddy and I are going to make Bass Ice Cream pretty soon.  Hopefully that turns out good.
