A recent couple of purchases had me thinking of this.  I am VERY deal-oriented, and tend to shop ONLY sale items, and generic at that.  But over time, and as income now affords, I have found that there have become a few items that I am no longer willing to scrimp on.  Here's my list, what's yours?  Just asking.

*Hot dogs.  Good, all beef dogs cannot be substituted for.

*Toilet paper.  'Nuff said.

*Electronics.  There IS a difference.

*Firearms.  You gonna trust a Lorcin?

*Kingsford charcoal.  Yup, there's a difference.

*Butterball chickens.  Worth whatever they're askin'.

*Mobil 1 for all my cars.  An investment in the future.

"The best is the enemy of the good enough.",(old Russian saying). I think that about sums it up for me. As long as something is "good enough" I'm happy with it.  I tried a bottle of Makers Mark the other day, suppose to be the "best" bourbon you can buy. On a 1 to 10 I'd give it a 6. No taste, a little stronger then I like(90 proof)and cost too much to boot. Now if ya' want a very good bourbon give Rebel Yell a try. It's about 25% cheaper then Makers and has a very good flavor/taste. On a 1-10 I'd give it a 9. So you see, sometimes spending more doesn't really get you something that's better, you just think it does because it cost more.

bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!  makers mark is the most wonderfully evil thing i've ever had for breakfast....................

for me its guns though, i may be a poor bastard, but when im ready to buy a gun i buy the best, even if it means waiting (unless its a C&R, which are more impulse buys than anything!)

I've always liked that cheap Evan Williams "Green Lable" for breakfast. I'm not awake enough to really taste it anyway,LOL. Real though, give Rebel Yell a taste, I'll bet you'll like it just as much as Makers Mark.

True quaility. Period.

Fake quality is never a value, nor is it ever worth paying extra for.

Also, just about anything that saves me time.  As time is the most valuable thing I can control, I am quite miserly with it.

Virtually everything I buy.  I've learned through the years that the permanent sorrow of poor quality far outlasts the temporary pain of high prices.

It's been a struggle  to train my wife through the years that you can either buy quality once or a cheap price many times.

Rifle scopes--I usually pay roughly the same for a Leupold scope as I do the rifle.  Well worth it, IMO.

Paying good money for scopes is a great idea, but I haven't liked Leupolds lately. I think their QC is letting out some inferior product right now.
