I purchased a property specifically for shooting. First thing I did was go around to the nearest nieghbors and introduced myself and told them I intend to shoot here. There where 2 of them and the nearest one is 1/2 mile a way. Well another neighbor about a mile away sent her son to complain.
Night shooting, tannerite full auto constant shooting. . She never called the police, but we limit the shooting between the hours of 8am-8pm. And a lot of supressed shooting. |

Yeah... A Portlander moved up by us and started calling 911 when we were shooting. The first time they send 3 patrol cars with 2 deputies each. Then when they left, the deputies stopped at the Portlander's house and told them not to call 911. So they called the non emergency # every time we were shooting... The Sheriff's office would call us and ask if it was us, we would say yes and they're job was done. After 6 weeks, the Sheriff sent up a Sgt and a deputy to go shooting with us and on they way back they stopped at the Portlander's house and told them if they called again they were going to come straight up and arrest the Portlander's for making falls reports, interfering with law enforcement, and conspiring to waste public funds, or something like that... I forget the 3 actual charges, but they gave the ORS# and everything. The Portlander's quit bitching and moved away!

Buy a "Thunder Mug" (not to poo in), it's a signaling device for ships back in the day. 1oz of black powder, a little bread for wadding(and creating back pressure for the more noise), 6" fuse, and it will rattle their dishes 3/4 mile away. I've got 3 and they are awesome. They have a 1-3/4" bore (perfect for a golf ball or a crammed in tennis ball). View Quote |

Damn it. Now I gotta buy a Thunder Mug for no damn good reason. Thanks, GD.

If I’m on my property does the cop have a right to trespass?
I wouldn’t want officers trespassing on my property let alone questioning me about my firearms on my land. NO TRESSPASSING FUDD MFERS |

In a jurisdiction that outlaws full auto fire, and cop thinks he hears it coming from your property, maybe. Impacts on the neighbor’s house that apparently came from the direction of your range, yes. |

If you where my neighbor I would file a complaint with the HOA and Chamber of Commerce. I would probably call an attorney and file a cease and desist letter along with filing a TRO.

Shoot all you want, so long as you doing it during respectable hours.

I'm about as pro gun as anyone can be... but I'll tell you it can be downright annoying as fuck when you have a blast-happy neighbor a few hundred yards away.
I ALWAYS shoot with a suppressor if I'm in my backyard... just out of consideration for my neighbors. |

Full auto cannon.
Fuck busy bodies. Get a generator and some spot lamps and shoot until 4 AM. |

Always used to piss me off getting those type of calls, where the ONLY a complaint was neighbor is shooting. We were bound my policy to respond, and what OP experienced is how I always dealt with it.
Then inevitably the complainant who called it in would want contact. And every single damn time.... “We paid a lot of money to live in the country” and every time I would interrupt them and say well your neighbor also paid a lot of money to live in the country so he could legally exercise his 2A rights, and if you didn’t want neighbors shooting you should have moved into the city. Seemed like 50% of the time they would call into a supervisor to complain “This Deputy is refusing to do his job”, and my supervisors would tell them to go pound sand, that if they didn’t like it they should have moved into the city |

Noise ordinance...
I have 8 acres and I am surrounded by macmansions. They call.... they come..they check my papers.... that's it...and they don't come again. but I am respectful and I only shoot from 11 to 3 or so...when nobody is there. that's it. |

We have a 350 acre farm, but some azzhole built a subdivision next to our property. We regularly shoot AR's and skeet. About half the time we do, a deputy usually comes out and shoots the bull with us, sometimes even shooting a few rounds.
We know them all and they pretty much do it because they have to come check. About 8 months ago, my Son In Law was wasting some ammo with his bumpstock. One of the Yankee transplant women in the subdivision called and said there was a war going on on our farm. LOL.... They keep this shit up, and we may go into the hog business or maybe even chicken houses next to their little subdivision! The subdivision is NE of our farm and the prevailing wind is SW. BTW, my closest neighbor is a deputy and every few weeks gets out his MP5 and parties with it!. They have called the Sheriff's Office on him too! LOL |

The solution to this is rather simple for me.
The moment a neighbor complains about me legally and safely shooting on my land is the day that I present them the following: -Model of suppressors in .22, 5.56, .308, 9mm handgun, 9mm full-auto rated, .45, .50 cal. and 12 gauge that I will need to purchase. -Mounting system that I will be purchasing. -An invoice for said suppressors and mounts. -An invoice for $1,600 in Form 4 fees. -An invoice for the cost of passport photos and (if applicable) fingerprints (I've never been charged though.) -An invoice for consideration of my effort to comply to HIS wishes on MY property. I figure that the neighbor can obtain a working relationship with me for a little south of $12,000. We'll start getting things into order after the check clears. Everybody wants things. The question is "What it is worth to you?" |
