While listening to the 9 dwarfs go on and on with their anti-war rhetoric, particularly John Kerry mentioning Vietnam every six seconds, their anti-gun stances, their peace and love horseshit, I got to thinking how much my parent's generation has contributed to the disentegration of our Republic and I have got to say, love for parents aside, I can't wait until that whole group of people are too old to do any harm or taking the eternal, celestial dirt nap. Think about it, Dan Rather, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Howard Dean, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, most of the college professors that are poisoning the minds of the young and stupid...et al... Most of the people in this country that are trying to tear it apart are the same group of jackasses that were running around protesting the war, smoking dope, reveling in degenerate behavior, etc.... Sure there are some of you that are exceptions, my hat is off to everyone that had the guts to serve in Vietnam and/or escaped the 1960's with their patriotism and belief in America intact, but it sure seems that the crud has risen to the top, and now they are in position to really screw things up. I am sure I am going to catch some flame for this from some people, but I can't wait until these NEO-COMs are all gone!

Amen, but then we'll still have their stupid offspring, far too many of which populate (read: contaminate) places like DUh....
Frightening, isn't it? |
|
Yes, we all know that 60s generation of young adults ruined the country. Some of course became wiser with age, others regressed into complete idiocy. This too shall pass, and those of us who were young Reagan adults of the 80s shall come into power and all shall be right with the world again.
|
|
Every generation's idiots will produce idiot offspring
Just wait until our kids are saying "GODDAMN 80'S GENERATION CAN GO FUCK THEMSELVES!!" |
|
I agree and I am of that generation. Some of us came out okay and some didn't. I do think that as a group we're much more conservative now.
|
|
Sounds very liberal and leftist to me. "Those old folks did it all wrong, they were all blind and didn't know anything. But us, with our scientific point of view, we'll create The New Human and thus a Better Society." Come to think of it, I just paraphrased a line from V.I. Lenin.
|
|
College students are more conservative today than their hippie parents were a generation ago. 31% of college students surveyed identify themselves as Republicans, 27% as Democrats, and 38% as Independent. The general population, however, is significantly more Democratic. |

Lenin is talking about the "old folks" who created and uphold the society, while in this case it is this very specific group of "old folks" who want to change it. |

It is a cycle...fortunately we are moving back toward the center.....

Yeah, the ones who have a vested interest in the handouts provided by the government i.e. special interest groups. |

I was born in 1946, the first year of the "Baby Boomer" generation.
You are quite correct, my generation has wrought much harm to our country and to the world. The list is far too long to cover in detail...suffice to say, drugs, abortion on demand, convict "rights", MTV, Rap, and a host of other evils could be blamed on us. That said, we have done good too...lots of it. Before you whine more about the sins of your fathers, I think you ought to do a bit of serious study of history to find out the "why" of it all. To REALLY understand us, you need to understand our parents "Greatest" generation and the legacy they left us. Why are we so screwed up? This has been a hot topic among social scientists for some time now. Many good books have been written about it. In some circles, it is ascribed to the impact of a changing world upon our fathers when they returned home from the war. I tend to believe it is a lot of factors due to the incredibly changing world of the latter 20th Century. Maybe a bit of research into our folks and how we were raised and what was happening world wide will help you understand us. There is an old saying among social-science professors that, "What You Are is Because of Where You Were When!" There is some truth to that...in fact a hell of a lot of truth. We are what we are...our values, judgements, decisions, likes & dislikes, cultural differences, habits...etc. ALL because of where we were WHEN "something" happened to influence our lives. You are entirely correct about the liberal socialist professors that habituate our campi. They and the media ARE most certainly products of their generation, just as I, a retired naval officer of 28 years service from Vietnam to Desert Storm am also a product of that generation. My own brother is a socialist, having learned from the best the California state university system had to offer in the sixties. While I was serving overseas, he was doing what college students did in the late sixties. I am just as much a product of my environment as he is of his. All generations in America have their great leaders and their bums. We ALL have warts. We are ALL influenced by the good and bad of our culture and environment. For decades now, the liberal media and educational system in America has been infusing our young ones with the socialist mantra...that America is an evil, polluting, racist, sexist, homophobic overbearing, bellicose oligarchy, worthy of the World's scorn. Our own liberals can't fucking STAND this Pax Americana that Ronald Reagan began and which President Bush is continuing. I admit...much of that crap comes out of the mealy mouths of my peers...and for that I am sorry. Some of us never grew up. Some of us don't really understand...but SOME do. I hope that when WE are finally assuming room temp and YOU are in charge, that YOU can do a better job. Wait until the mantle is passed though...now it sounds like whining. |

sigh...
Another little boy raised by ultraleftist teachers who has problems with Mommy & Daddy &, as a result, blames a whole generation of people he doesn't know... Get therapy, ya bozo. |

Jack, I could try to answer you seriously, as LWilde did. Instead, I think I'll just ask a question: how often do you take your gym shorts home so your momma can wash them? Mine used to smell pretty bad when I was in Junior High.

|
God, I feel the same way. The 60's weren't the worst thing to happen to this country (civilwar and Depression beat it out) but it definitely fucked it up. I can't wait for all those ex hippies to die. (except Campybob. he's ok)

Meth, crack, eyes/ears/nose/tongue piercing, tattoo's over 50% of the body, racial mixing, Honda Civic muscle cars. Don't those things seem kind of odd? We did'nt see much of that back in the 60's, 70's or 80's.

Yeah, when we're all taking the big sleep, we can rest easy knowing that the current generation is firmly in control. The generation that gave us rap music, Generation X laziness, pants down around their knees like they had a pound of shit in their drawers, Fast and Furious style rice burning hot rod wannabes, multiple holes in their body for studs, spikes, etc., dipshits that cannot spell and have no clue where North America is on the map and creators of "Reality Television". See how easy it is to paint everyone with the same wide brush. We're not all leftists and I'm sure you're not all worthless bums.

This gives me a chuckle (born 1950, definitely boomer.) and I'm always reminding Lady Rain, "this is what is going to be in charge when we're gone" as she stares fish eyed at whatever moron representative of the new wave is going about it's clueless way's at the moment.
We got some things right, we got some things wrong, but at least we were out there trying, which is more than the current batch of whining slackers seems to be capable of. It's going to be fun watching what goes down over the next 20-30 years. It's a lot different when you actually have to do more than shoot off your mouth. |

Jack, my first response was to rip you a new asshole. Some of the bravest people I ever knew gave it all in the 1960's. It was called Viet Nam. Others were cowards like Bill Clinton. Unfortunately, the cowards were the smartest and found jobs that lead to the mess we're in. They control the teacher's unions, most government at all levels, judgeships, the universities and the mass media. Their propaganda has infested your children's minds. Most of you chest-beaters don't even know what these treasonous bastards have done to your offspring. Call me crazy, but Joe McCarthy knew what he was talking about in the early '50's.
