I like it,
it is also probably much better off-road than the H2 |
|
I like it. Looks a bit like a rock crawler.
I'm thinking it has something to do with meeting side impact standards in the coming years. |
|
I would prefer they just put a V8 in a TJ and Dynatrac 60s under it, as OEM.
But wait, they are Chrysler engineers, they have to fuck everything up as bad as they can, and have the aftermarket fix it. |

No, youre thinking of the way cool Scrambler. Its some kind of ugly ass hummer knock off here.

Oh. I was thinking of the Brute i just read of in Off Road. It is a custom from http://www.aev-conversions.com/
Check it out: Edit: Whats not to like? 37" Mud Terrains a 5.9L V-8 w/ 235HP and 355 lb./ft. of torgue. Dana 40 front, Dana 60 rear. Compact and still has a 6' by 59" bed. |

Whoa, that "Brute" conversion is awesome looking. If I was to plunk down a mad wad of cash, it would be for that.

As a Wrangler owner, that makes me want to puke. It looks like a little, bitch city car that some trashy European company would make for the streets of France. Does anyone have any detailed info on this design? |
|
..looks like an old willys wagon on a power wagon chassis(sp?)
..I'd prefer dual dana 60s with a 4 banger cummins diesel on a wrangler.(6 banger if they could fit it in!) |
|
Good guess, actually it's a stretched TJ with a custom bed. The engine is pirated from a Grand Cherokee. Probaly easier. You can also get a TJ sport, Sahara, or Rubicon.
Since it's custom, you can probaly order how you like it. I'd go for: Dual Dana 60s Dual Air Lockers Front/Rear winches Manual tranny. I'd go for a diesel, but i'd bet that would really jack up the cost. |

I like it. That color sucks though. I saw a version of it in person and it was badass. Rear doors like the ones that are in cyanide's pic could never make it to production though.

The more I see modern "jeeps" the more I like the GPW.

I'd buy one in a sec.
They keep it under 30,000 and I will break my own rules and go down and buy a new one and drive it for the next 20 yrs... |

On Mike's totally free jeep news website, it is referred to as the "RESCUE"
It is also showing up in the Detroit Auto News insider 11-18-03 edition. |

yup, H2 blows, it is just a chevy truck with a different body
|

hummer will win against the studebaker, it really is a close copy, definately a stoled design

I have my doubts... This is an enthusiasts vehicle, hence it won't have mass purchasing appeal unless they dumb it down. That's way too much rolling stock for the 99% of buyers who will stick to the road. It's just looks too no-compromise to make it into production. |
|
Looks better than the Liberty.
Rough calculations... approach angle= 70 degrees break over angle= 142 degrees departure angle= 55 degrees. As shown, if geared right, it would make one hell of a rock crawler. |
|
Looks like a Cherokee that's been to the gym. I like it.

i'll stick with this thank you very much

Well, how about the H3T then?
4.44 meters long, 19 inch tires, 3.5 liter, 5 cylinder GM VORTEC engine, 350 (DIN) HP, 474 Nm torque. |

Words cannot describe how ugly that is. It looks like a reject from a transformers cartoon. It looks like it might turn into a carport that holds a real car. |

a good 4X for the market would be an suv that costs less than 28 grand new, 31 inch tires with room for 33's easily, solid axles, full frame, skid plates, lots of ground clearance, approach and depart angles very steep, real bumpers, tow hooks, fornt and back, reciever in front and back, low overall height, 300 hp, lockers in front and back, power steering, electric wench, green, black wheels, no fancy interior, and it is allowed to ride like a lumber wagon, no power anything, just a plain ole am/fm radio, no air, easy acess to the engine to work on, and a manual trans, 410 gears, and a really low ratio transfer case, and full time 4X
|
|
oh yeah, 4 link suspension, front and rear, coil springs, and adjustable control arms, front and rear
