This is a diversion. Everyone is focused on his Art Deco sculpture so they don't see he's building a lunar lander some place in Iowa

With BFR/Starship you should be capable of >100 tonnes to orbit for <$10 million.

The destruction of the American space program was deliberate, with Bathhouse Barry shutting down the shuttle program being the Coup de grâce, or so they though.

Awesome, thanks!

Maybe it'll be cheaper to get some "five and dime" satellites into GTO now.

So you're saying cutting the space shuttle allowed them to use that money on our next space system. Very simple concept with a tiny NASA budget.

Isn't that pretty small for a launch pad when compared to their McGregor, TX launch pad?

Or maybe it's just that it's a bigger rocket.

New angle... Can get a nice view of the Methane/fuel rich turbopump assembly.

Poor Russia, now with Raptor it's just one more thing that SpaceX has beat them at.

It's also amazing that SpaceX can likely build that engine for less than Aerojet-Rocketdyne can build an RL-10....

it's infinitely larger. You aren't constrained by the size of the building.

then there is the microgravity - should allow for some really cool crystal alignments that aren't possible on earth.

The eventually 250 tonne thrust version will have over 100,000 hp IIRC.

Thrust power is about 4,000,000 hp

That would enable us to build things in space that we wouldn't be able to launch.  Like a space station capable of supporting missions to Mars and maybe even a moon base.

Yeah, I hadn’t thought out those numbers.  That equals about $45 per pound, into orbit...  Holy shit.

If accurate and successful, that’d enable a whole lotta shit to start happening.  A pretty staggering concept to envision where that could lead.
