I was showing off my gun collection and my friend said, "you know I am a good republican but do all your guns have to be loaded"

I said "as a matter a fact they do, when the terrorists invade I don't want to be loading magazines"

anyways how many of your guns are loaded?

All of them except when cleaning.

An unloaded gun might as well be a baseball bat.

All my mags are loaded. Only the AR and a shotgun are kept locked and loaded, safeties on.

This is in the safe, BTW. My carry gun is L&L at all times.

Just the one that I use for conceal carry.  How ever I do have lots of loaded Mags.  The guns are in the safe.  In the time it takes to open the safe I think it would not make a difference.

About half of them. And I have FIVE kids. But all the loaded ones are locked up in the safe or my truck. For the ones that aren't loaded, full mags are close by.

Edited for spelling.

My CCW, a S&W 686 in the safe, and the shotty 870 in the safe. Funny, since I turned 21 and got my CCW I have NEVER been w/out a firearm.

870, full mag, and side saddle, nothing in the pipe.
1911 full mag in, nothing in the pipe.
Glock 19 same as above.

The Beretta's always loaded, and with a spare mag handy too (though on-safe, and sometimes in a snap holster).

The AK isn't loaded, though I try to keep a loaded mag handy. That would be easier if I had more mags, which I'm going to get real soon now. But seriously, I'm having a hard time thinking of a realistic self-defense situation where I would need the AK as fast as possible.

Ummm, the .45 springfield by the bed.  And the AR in the living room, along with my carry gun.  Oh, and the P22 is hidden somewhere else in the house.

I really need another shotgun.

I'm only 17 and my dad would flip if I kept them loaded even though they are in my room.

The thing is my cousins come over every once in awhile when I'm gone and they go in my room, I have to keep ammo/mags separate from the firearms except the ones I have tucked underneath the mattress for SHTF use.

Once I'm on my own, all defense firearms will have a mag in/tube filled with safeties on. May keep them loaded haven't decided.

It kinda sucks but at least I don't have to keep the Glock locked up anymore just because it's a pistol.

That was my mom's idea not mine

Except for that safety canard, "all guns are always loaded," none.

I used to keep a model 19 loaded, but my 32 year old brother picked it up, grinning, waved it around with his finger on the trigger.

I said, deadpan, "Joe, that gun is loaded."  He stopped smiling and handed it to me.  I unloaded it and I gave him *another* lecture on gun safety.

Yeesh.  Too bad he was not like my neighbor down the street.  I was at work for 5 weeks when UPS dropped off a couple rifles on my doorstep.  He saw the water soaked boxes, guessed what they were, and took them home to  dry them off and oil them up.  Century/AIM/Whoever got an earfull over that one.

If by loaded you mean 1 in the chamber, none. Revolver .357 7 shot has six, Kimber has a full mag and a few loaded ones around the house. Remington 12GA has 5 in the tube. AK loaded mags, AR15 loaded mags but neither in a gun.

If I had any guns at all I would have to guess somewhere around 6 are loaded and ready to go at all times. Of course revolvers are always at condition 1 and pistols/rifles at condition 3 (Mags loaded and inserted, no round in chamber and of course safety off)

That is if I had any guns....

If I weren't a thirteen year old poser who really doesn't own any guns at all and spends all his time playing irritating Japanese computer games with stupid cutesy characters and annoying "boing" noises all the time well then I guess I'd have to say...

A good Gun Vault is a thing of beauty.  Lets me keep a fully loaded pistol and a couple of mags instantly accessible with little concern about someone stumbling across it.

The safe has a Mossy 590 loaded with 5 rnds of #6 shot and 5nds 00 Buck in the sidesaddle (no round chambered) along with a long barreled Smith 686+ loaded on the top shelf.  Two 30 rnd mags loaded with 25 each are in there too, right by the M-4gery.

Now back to saving Princess Ichichi!

All the handguns (execpt the .22), yes.
Both shotguns, yes.
M1A, yes.
The bolt guns and SKS, no, but there is ammo right there for them.

An unloaded gun is a club.

My duty weapon which is kept at the P.D. in my locker and my off duty carry gun which is locked up when I'm at home.
Everything else is in the safe, unloaded. The only ammo I keep in the safe is one bandoleer for my M1, which is my go to gun if something really, really bad would happen. I figure mag springs aren't a concern and it's fast to load. 8 rounds of .30-06 will solve a lot of problems.

The 3 pistols that I have are loaded and ready to go with safeties OFF, they have always got in my way.
Even my 36cal black powder pistol is loaded and ready.

No rifles are loaded, too dangerous, I live in an apartment. I don't need a bullet going through EVEY apartment wall until it stops.

I used to keep my SBR Rem 870 by the door with a round ready but the action open.  All I had to do is pick the gun up by the front and it would close on the round as I lifted.
Its real simple to do, just load a shell into the barrel close the action, and then rack the slide back but not enough to eject the shell and then lean the gun against the wall.

None....I have mags loaded and will have plenty of time to slap a mag into a gun when/if the time ever comes.

Keeping them all loaded is just asking for trouble IMHO.

Axl - You actually got a Trooper or a Trooper MK III?

I have the Trooper my Dad traded an Officers Model Match in on when his Department mandated .357 capable revolvers.  Even have the original box and test target from Colt.

For those who don't remember the Trooper was a .357 and Patrolman(?) was the similar but 38 spcl only version.  Python was the top of the line and Trooper next down.  The Trooper had a bull barrel and unshrouded cylinder rod.  The Trooper Mk III came out a few years later and added the rod shroud and I believe a barrel rib, but still a notch down from the Python.

All of them, though none have anything in the tube. And the AR and AK won't fit in the safe with 30rd mags so one has a 20(AR) the other has a 15(ak)

I'm confused - why would you have to be loading magazines if your guns aren't loaded?  Whetehr or not your magazines are full seems to have nothing to do with whetehr or no you keep your guns loaded.

I have lots of full mags, but only have one loaded gun.  When I'm in the house at night, it has a full mag in it, but not a round in the chamber.  I find it hard to imagine a circumstance where I wouldn't have time to rack the slide.  I figure that the handgun will allow me to fight my way to the safe - and THEN those "invading terrorists" that came to my house will be in a world of hurt, since I've got about 20 loaded AR mags with my ARs.

When I'm not in the house, the one loaded gun is also in the safe.  I'd HATE having to explain to St. Peter how I got shot with my own gun when I came home and surprised a burglar in my house.
