Someone in CA is trying to trade for a preban Polytech M14 that I have.  Before I persue anything with him, is it even legal for me to ship it to California?  Is it legal for him to have in California?  If it matters, since it's "preban" it has a bayonet lug, detachable magazine and a "flash hider" on it, but no pistol grip.

Please advise.  Thanks.

Thanks.  What about if I removed the FH from the rifle and sent just the rifle (sans FH) to CA?  Would that be legal?

Yes, but no magazines!

You can have all the 20, 30, or even 40 round magazines that you want. They are not banned from ownership or even use. They however, can not be brought into the state.

Last time I checked there isn't a border check point checking cars for magazines (only illegal aliens). [;)]
