4 mags 3 months ago...
Now I have 53 including a Beta C 100rd drum...
I feel I need to buy more especially 20 rounders. I need to have at least over 100 AR mags or I won't feel right...Is this normal or do I have a serious problem?

No mags 2 months ago.

Now I have 14 20 rounders and 21 30 rounders and 1 Beta C-Mag.

I have to keep them hidden from my wife.  I have to sneak around and go to the post office because if she finds out I am buying something else firearm related she will divorce me.

I'll keep it on the downlow from her, but I intend to get 30 ea 30 rounders and 20 each of the 20 rounders before I quit.  I also want ot buy some of the thermolds that Ronin has for sale on this forum.  Eventually.

If the ban on high caps is ever lifted I am gonna feel really dumb.  :)

So if you have a magaholic problem then so do I.  Maybe we should start a support group.

Yeah... My wife thinks I got about 10 mags.
I keep them hidden in a storage locker. She would flip if she knew how much money I have spent on mags. BTW- I just got 4 Thermolds from Ronin and they are all perfect.

Sorry, but the qualifications for [red]MAGAHOLIC[/red] start at 100 mags for each type of gun. [;)]

I agree that once you hit 100 you qualify.

1-5 mags
========
Need to wake up and purchase more mags.

5-10 mags
========
got your first foot in the door

10-20 mags
==========
now you finally cracked the ice

20-50 mags
==========
you can start to get comfortable you have a good base

50-80 mags
==========
now you can group the mags. Group 1 are the ones you take to the range and Group 2 are the ones you wrap in oil and save for a rainy day or for when another mag goes bad.

80-99 mags
==========
Here the signs of being a magaholic begin. The only problem here is where to store the damn things. This is where you start finding mags in places you forgot about. You open the closet and 2-3 mags fall and hit you in the head. You feel a lump in the couch and its the 2 mags you have been looking for.

I still have approx. 800 to 850 mags left from when I had my FFL and ran a small gunsmithing/retail business. Of course this was back when you could buy them by the gross for less than $10 each. Someday I'll stack them all in one place and take a pic of them to post. Should scare some Gov't types! [}:D]

Being a Magaholic is like any other addiction.  It's not how much you buy.  It's how hooked you are.  You know you're a magaholic when you're still buying those M-16 mags even after you've hit your goal (and you will be[:D])  You know you gat it bad when you buy mags for guns YOU DON"T EVEN HAVE on the oft chance that you may buy a gun for them later[;)]

Keep us updated on the progression of your addiction.

I am midway between JT's Certified status and Reloaders 800+...

I know its an obsession, but I cant stop! I have a hookup, and this is my new dope. I do not feel bad though....

Quit smokin pot in YEARS ago PLUS....
Quit Smokin Cigs Christmas PLUS...
Quit buying music with Napster....

Equals MORE hobby income....

BTW, when I get to 800(my next imaginary goal), what will I collect then??? Will I just set another goal???

Mags?  Last night I realized I have a problem with uppers (no not those little pills).  I was contemplating buying an upper as a spare for a rifle that I do not even have yet.  Normally I just buy a spare upper for a dedicated lower after I have the lower.  One lower needs two uppers, right?  I think I need help.  Is this normal?

I saw a story on 20/20 a few years ago about equipment stolden from national guard armories being sold at gun shows. The mags in the barcoded bags were specifically mentioned.

You had better turn those into the proper authorities.

When I buy mags or reloading supplies(especially brass) my wife always asks if I needed it. She always asks it as if she knows that I know the real answer. I keep telling her it is for her future and to help estate sale. I want my estate sale to be like big farm sales and such. TWO DAY ESTATE SALE-MOSTLY GUN AND HUNTING RELATED-BRING YOUR TRUCKS AND TRAILERS-SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. I want people to walk into huge building, look around and wonder either what the hell I bought all of it for or what the hell is it for. No sense in making people drive a long way to auction if they cannot buy at least a half truck load. That way they will have a good story for their wife. HELLOFADEAL,BARGAIN, COULDN'TLIVEWITHOUT, or honey look what I found for you.

It depends on how many rifles you own.

If your a 1 rifle guy with 100+ mags, yeah, you're an idiot.

If you have several rifles, then it actually makes some sense.

I hear ya bro's. I had some M-14 mags and a bayonet w/scabbard that I picked up in the service during a warehouse clean up. I was going through some "junk" awhile back and found them. I bought an M-14 with the logic what good are these without the rifle? I could'nt just sell the mags not at the prices their going for now.

Hi, I'm Paul and I'm a Mag-O-holic.  I've got another 11 on order.

In my defense, the LEGP will be my 4th AR, so that's only about 25 mags per gun.

beagles - i feel your pain.

got more mags than i really know what to do with, but they are just sooo cool.  i would just collect mags if i still could.  the plastic waffle ak mags i think look the coolest, to bad the closest thing to that we have are thermolds or orlites.

the most i have for one rifle is 22 mags for my preban fal.  15 are still in the grease in plastic baggie.

Well, by the time I get the ones I'm involved with right now I will have 69 mags. 31 will be easily attainable in a few months then once I'm around 125 I plan to try and cut it back a bit.Also I have an H&K USP .45 with three 12rd mags and three 10 round. I think pistol mags are in a different class it would take less to put you in the magaholic status. What do you experts think?

For now, 37 GI 30's, 15 Thermolds, 4 Orlites, 6 Simmonds 20's, 26 E. German 30's for the AK, 1 75rd Chinese AK drum, 9 Para hi-caps, 1 Para 10 rounder, 4 Glock 30 10 rounders, and 4 25rd Butler Creek Hotlips for 10/22.

Grand total is over 100, does that count, or must all 100 be AR mags?

Fine then - I don't have the disorder yet. I'm trying real hard though..  [:)]

What sucks is that as expensive as the C-mag is, four pre-ban Para mags are worth just about as much!! It is nice though to have 14+1 rounds of .45 at the ready if needed even though the gun is too big to really conceal well except in winter. I suppose an AR would be even harder to conceal though.

One more criteria to solidify your magaholic status pertains to selling your mags.

No matter how many mags you have (1 - 1000), if sell just one mag, you lose your status.

A true magaholic NEVER sells a mag. [;)]
