About an hour from now, they will drop another MOAB at Eglin AFB reservation..which is my backyard..no kidding. Last time it went off, it was not even within sonic boom audibles. They have put messages on our homes, letting us know what their doing today. It tells us to open windows and our car alarms may be triggered..yeah, whatever. thats what they said last time.

I'll let you know...Max if you're around, heads up.

Maybe the blast was larger than they expected, and your really dead, and just never heard it go off because you got vaporized so quickly.....

That's one dang big conventional bomb.

You could blowup a lot of stuff with one.

when i lived near eglin (actually in "niceville") you'd frequently hear the ac130s playing. "brrrrrrrrp" "bam" "bam" "bam" sometimes at night, you'd see them dropping flares, too...

The CBS nightly news at 6:30 pm Friday showed a video of the explosion.  Massive mushroom cloud! Maybe it on their website?

Anybody have a copy of the video tape that doesn't require you to register (like CNN's).

Thanks,

Why are we wasting bombs here when we have new firing ranges called Iraq and Afghanistan?

When I saw the thread, I thought the same thing, CavVet.  Why in the hell are we "testing" them over hear?  Are they actually trying to "measure" something from the blast and the only way it can be done is with equipment sitting on US soil that can't be moved to sandland?

What, we Floridians can't have our entertainment, too?  [:D]

But seriously, it IS a good idea to make sure that nobody forgot something important in the design, and one way to do that is to test it.   I mean, wouldn't we be practically a laughingstock if we dropped the "world's meanest (non-nuclear) bomb" on somebody with much fanfare and hoopla, and it just went THUD without any earth-shattering kaboom?

This is a weapon with a major attitude.  It wouldn't do for it not to work the first time we actually use it...and every other time as well!

Why are we testing this thing on our soil. I can think of two sandboxes where we can test it. Why do we have to ruin our plush forests.
