Interesting set up, eh?

that looks like an ar-10, the mag loogs wide, but it has a forward assist.

Did armalite put a forward assist on their new military ar-10's?

I think he is a [pc mode on]LITTLE PERSON [/pc mode off] and the gun is 5.56 and everything else just looks huge.

Looks like allot of private purchase stuff added to an issue rifle.

Very nice pea-shootar! I thought it was an AR-10 too. The mag looks wider and the upper/lower looks beefier than a M-16. Maybe its just the way the pic came out....

peace time, no way in hell but there is allot more leaway in a war zone. My basic approach to it was 1) Was it actually practical 2) Is is good material (not let someone hang a 10 dollar scope on their rifle) 3) could the rifle be returned to issue prior to return to the states.

Friend of mine is with an infantry guard unit over in Ramadi and they went in together and bought scopes for some of their M16s as all the M4s were being hogged by the glory units.

That looks a LOT like my scope as well... It's a Tasco VAR 6-24x42mm AO scope with Target Turrets, Mil-Dot reticle. It retains zero very well when removed, and reinstalled. When adjusting turrets it returns to its original zero no problem as well. YMMV. For under $150, it's a decent little scope. If I could go a different route, there's a nice 44mag version from simmons that has similar features, but is better quality for the same price.

Thanks,

Damn! can you imagine carrying that monster around Iraq during the summer? I think I would stick to a basic M16A2 and possibly make up the weight savings with more ammo.

It's the Harris LS Model which, IMHO, is the best one they offer at a reasonable price:

Swivel Model: allows lateral adjustment of rifle to allow for uneven terrain. Adjusts from 9 to 13 inches.

You'll also need the AR15 A2 adapter to mount it to an A2 handguard:

My rifle is a Stainless Steel heavy barrel, and the overall weight of the rifle is 11 lbs loaded. This is a PAIN to lug around or shoot off-handed, so the bipod is A NECESSITY, and besides, it's WELL worth the money!!! DPMS is a great company, and I've NEVER had a bad experience buying from them.

I would guess some warm ones, seeing as how it's getting cold as a snowman's balls over there about now.
